Gas War Drives Down Prices in Denison, Texas
as

9-07-06 - A price war is helping drive down gas prices at two Denison gas stations. Cars were lined up on Thursday to fuel up at $2.15 a gallon on Austin Avenue.
One week ago, it was $2.45 a gallon at the same stations. The drop is 30 cents a gallon in just seven days.
The national average right now is about $2.67 a gallon.

It's been a while since I've seen that. Gas here has been going down a few cents everyday. Diesel went down 20 cents in two days. from 2.89 to 2.69. Gas it at 2.50ish. I guess we're in the expensive part of the state too, gas else where is cheaper than 2.50

Very cool.

We are seeing odd happenings here (nothing as decent as THAT).
Some of the stations that are constantly 5-10c higher are the now the first ones dropping to numbers not seen in many months (as in $2.59).

Weird thing is, some have now dropped the diesel down within 10 cents of the gas, which has been a constant complaint here and on other forums.

Is this the end times?

I live in a very tourist populated area, Gas for the entire summer was any where between 2.90 and over 3.00 for regular. Now for the last month of the summer, gas prices every where else in the state were gradually falling except for the area that i lived in. In surrounding towns, it was down to 2.67 a gallon, be we were still at 2.89 a gallon, well wouldnt you know, as soon as Labor day comes and goes, the gas prices in my area drop dramatically back down to 2.69. I was irrate, usally it would not matter, but my work rig is a gas jobbie

Cool, glad we are starting to see a DOWNward trend in prices. Wish it would happen out here in Guam. Still $3.45 a gallon for diesel.

That aint nuthin.........

I can recall back in 1969 when I got my drivers license the gas wars here in NORCAL

pushed the old

"regular"

gas down to

15.9 CENTS (not $$$$) per gallon.

I was driving a 1957 English Ford Anglia sedan with a 7.5 gallon tank and I was hard pressed to get it to take $1 to fill the tank.........

those were the real gas wars...

My dad always talked about the gas wars in the early 70s.

He said he went to work 1 day and filled up his Nova (69 with built vette motor 4 speed) and gas was I think somethin like 19 cents a gallon.

He said he went out to lunch and gas was down 16 cents gallon in 4 hours.

He said when he finally got off gas was all the way down to 13 cents a gallon.

At the time there wasn't but 3 gas stations in my town. 2 of them were on the out skirst of town with one station in town and they just kept pushin the prices down all day long.

He said it was cool cause he rag the hell out of car, burn up like 2 tanks of a gas a night and still not send more than 5 bucks.
