Wow some of you guys are old, lol. I played around with a Commodore 64 when i was little, then we got our first "real" computer, a 25 mhz 486dx, with the "turbo" button and 2mb of ram. What a rocket that one was, it's amazing how far we've come in the last 18 or so years since then.

My first "new" computer was an 386DX25 with 4mb of ram and a gigantic 60mb harddrive. It was a store demo running DOS 5.0 and I used to curl up on the couch with my DOS manual learning Syntax to make it behave and it was a lot of fun)
I have forgotten most of it but just having knowledge of DOS commands is still a big help even today in troubleshooting although I have to look up the particular command I need as often as not but it is nice to still be able to do it.
I enjoy playing around with Linux which has a greater need for command line execution and some of the commands are the same as the microsoft version but I just don't seem to be willing to dedicate the time it requires to learn the proper commands to make it work efficiently,I have been spoiled I guess.Ron G

Yeah, and what really amazes me is the cost of computing has gone way down over the years, directly the opposite of the inflation of most other stuff in this world. for example that 486 dad bought us back then cost something like $1200 or so in like 1990 or 1991, now you can buy a dual core desktop with 3gb of ram, a 500gb hard drive and decent graphics for less than $900 all day long.
