Re:Would you buy a 'rental'?

I rented a mustang last summer when I went to BC had 127 KM on it when I got it brand new basically. We took it to a motocross race and it raind had about 2" of muck on the floor for the week we had it. Took it back with the mud and 90% of the tires were little ***** on the outer fenders from burnouts so to answer your question no I would not buy one.

I wouldn't buy a used "Rental" sports car either.

You're probably too young to remember the Hertz/Shelby Cobra rental cars in the '70s :.
People would rent them on Friday, literally weld in a roll cage, drag race them on the weekend, remove the cage and turn them back in on Mondays.

Ahhhh the good ol days............. 8)

Did you see JackAss the movie? They took a rental and entered it in a crash/derby. Brought it back like nothing even happened to it...HILARIOUS. It's worth the rent for that scene only .

Re:Would you buy a 'rental'?

Thats is probably the most stupid funny movie I have ever seen. I personally liked the old men costumes the best that was my favorite. I wish I could find somewhere to make me one that looks that good.

Re:Would you buy a 'rental'?

A little research and I discovered my time frame was incorrect.
1966 was the only year for the Shelby GT350H (H designated Hertz Rent a car)

During the 1966 model year, Ford received a contract from Hertz Rent-a-Car for 1,000 specially prepared units. Although they didn't quite make the 1,000 mark, they came close. 936 Hertz Shelby GT350's were produced in 1966. All Hertz units were supplied with gold side stripes that read, G.T.350H. Most of the units also had gold LeMans stripes, but not all. The Hertz models were shipped with chrome Magnum 500 wheels. The very early Hertz models were shipped with a 4 speed transmission, all of the rest had automatics. There were a total of 2,378 1966 GT350's built. Of these, 1,433 were street models, 936 were Hertz models, 3 were race models, and 6 were specially prepared convertibles. The convertibles were not offered for sale to the public, they were for Carroll Shelbys friends, his secretary, and himself. To this date only 5 of the convertibles have been accounted for, and one of those five was destroyed.
