Wood boiler

Anyone else have one of these?

Haven't used a drop of oil to heat the house.

I was considering it but I was concerned with the amount of smoke generation. If the wind is out of the South, my nearest neighbor would be only 200' away. What have you observed?

My house is a one story and when the wind blows my way its over the roof line. The top of the stack is about 15' high and the boiler is only 80' from the house.

We use one of those to, but ours is bigger. We burn pallets that we get for free from a local factory. I think we can shove about 30-40 pallets in at a time. It is used to heat the house the shop and our grauge. It works real good.

Chrisreyn,

I load the fire box once every 24hrs once I get a good coal bed going at the begining of the season. A load for me is about 7 or 8 10"dia logs 20" in length.

The unit it self was $6,100. Installed it myself for about $1,200 in parts.

As far as keeping the house warm? I keep the termostat at about 74 and the house is about 2000 sq ft. with bad windows and block wallls and still is nice and toasty.

How do you insulate the water lines coming into the house? I've seen these before but never really researched them a whole lot. It would be perfect for the nice little place in the pines I plan to have one of these days. Can't stand North Jersey for too much longer...lol

I have been in one house with a similar setup that would blow warm air from the firebox thru the house rather than pressurized hot water. They also had an automatic feeder to feed logs into the firebox.

I bought insulation that is made so that two 1" PEX tubing will go through.

I have only been to North Jersey a Hand full of times for Locksmith classes. Other than that I stay down here. To be honest, I am not to trilled of The Peoples Republic of New Jersey. If there is a law to restrict Freedom it will be passed.

Fronty Owner,

This is not a pressurized system. A buddy of mine has one of the units you are talking about to heat his garage.

Hope to have a pole barn in the near future and put In Floor Radiant Heat. This boiler has the capacity to heat a 30' x 60' pole barn and the house at the same time. Just need another circulator.

Just to change the amount of wood for a 24hr load.
Just counted six 10" logs
