A lot of those old natural gas lift stations that "used" to be all over down here in S.Texas were started with a BIG rotary-vane air type starter plumbed into the nat-gas header thru a Fisher Big-Joe regulator to get it down to the pressure range for the air-starters. OMG! If you weren't prepared and expecting it when they hit the starter gas valve, you made SURE you were the next time!!! MAN those starters were LOUD!!!
