Wishfull thinking
We had a warmer spell after the -20° -30° weather. Actually got up to 40° for 3 days. But yesterday's temperature dipped below freezing and we got over a foot of snow in 6 hours. Now we are headed back to the minus side of zero again. Got my friend with the tracked skid steer and snow blower coming up this afternoon to dig me out. The borough, in true form burred my driveway again when they came through with the grader. Someone at the end of the road must have a lot of influence with the board. We never got plowed so soon before.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
It is because of weather like you are having that I moved to a zero snow area. Was in Canada, but got tired of the constant shoveling, paying for heat, salt eaten vehicles, idiot drivers that have absolutely no clue how to drive on slick roads, changing tires twice a year and more.
Now I have no need of house insurance, no need of A/C or heat plus other benefits.

I moved to the "less civilized" areas of Alaska to get away from people. The cold helps. Closest small town (6,000 people in a 5-mile radius) is 20 miles away, the big city, Anchorage is 75. I would be further out, but I need to be closer to medical facilities.

Sounds like you are in a good place for when the SHTF. When, not if. The way the Biden government is misleading the once great USA, that could happen this year.
That comment could open a whole new topic of conversation.

Yes, it's a glimpse into the future.
Near future.
Sadly, enough

Things are going exactly as planned. Mostly because people are trained to think that individuals don’t matter in the big picture. And that kind of thinking is what will lead to the fall.
Media, both mainstream and alternative, spread fear. Fear sells, bad news sells, sex sells. Its all bread and circuses for the masses. Detach, look around, don’t play the game. You might be surprised how many like minded people are actually out there.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being prepared for a worst case scenario, but there is also nothing wrong with working toward a better outcome.
And if I hear one more person say “I’m glad that I’m old, and probably won’t see the worst of it”. Those who say that are a huge part of the problems the world faces, as they were, and continue to be, complacent. Good little followers of the current thing.
Now that I’m done ranting, I would like to say, look after yourselves, your families, and your neighbors, in that order. Build communities, you cannot go it entirely alone. Some may, the majority simply won’t be able to.
Now lets hear some positive changes!

Pind, right on! The manufacture of false fear and the use of the evil false stream media to spread the fear is a major tool that the globalists are fond of using. For example, right now the WEF and the WHO are loudly proclaiming that disease X is just around the corner and priming the unwashed masses, the deplorables, you and I into accepting more unproven, still developing vaccines to 'prevent' you getting sick and to prevent the spread of this mysterious disease X that will supposedly kill more than previous scamdemics.
I have a small off grid cottage up on the hills of central Mexico, in the middle of nowhere and cannot imagine a better place to be once the SHTF.

Well, I am old and in poor health. I can't fight a running battle anymore. If they come for me, and I do mean if, I won't make it cost effective for them. As my mother's father would say, perhaps today is a good day to die.
