Windows Vista?

The demo I watched at Best Buy was pretty cool. Of course, it was the ultimate edition and was demoed on a new HP with a huge touch screen.
From what I read, it is a memory hog. You can get by with 1 gig when using the lower end versions, but need at least 2 gig for the more advanced versions. Also, as with any OS, the faster your processor, the better.

The Vista that was just release is the consumer version. Still working on the 32/64 enterprise version. And so far I'm not very impressed. MS added a lot of fluff.
Personally I'm sticking with XP Pro SP2 until they make me upgrade.

I might upgrade, but I just went to XP about 2 weeks ago, so I want to get used to it first!

NO>>Just say NO
you might not want to get it yet .It has a LOT of holes that hackers can exploit ..might want to wait a while till they get the bugs out...
Like most things...NEW= potential problems. BM

i ran it for a little while. as mentioned, it is a memory hog. made my 512 RAM laptop a little too sluggish for me. it had some neat stuff though. it kinda reminded me of a MAC/LINUX interface, with lots of little animated things that you dont really need, but look cool all the same.
i ended up formatting the partition i had it on to freespace for some movies

I think Dell is shipping it with as little as 512 ram, so I guess it is at least satisfactory on that. Watching to see how people like it before I jump in. Sounds good - - I have 2 gig ram and dual core Intel so that shouldn't be a problem.
