Will XM / Sirius radio work in Europe ??

I have been wanting to get XM or Sirius for quite a while and since the choices of radio stations on this side of the pond don't include country or 80's Hair music I was thinking about taking the plunge.

Does anyone know if the satellites hover over the US or if I can get it over here ??

The XM & Sirius satellites are positioned to provide service to North America and are intended to serve the United States 'lower 48' . You can get some coverage north into Canada and south into Mexico but any signal at all in Europe would be out of the question as the satellites would be below the horizon.

Yep. "Geosynchronous" is the operative word.

Nope XM won't work here. (I'm really sorry about that)- You'll have to resort to CD or mp3.
Hey Pistol if you have some free time we could meet!

Alpine ... you got mail

Thanks for the responses guys. I kinda figured that the satellites were in geosynch but I thought I better check. I have the option of listening to the Armed Forces Network (AFN) but the DJ's and commercials that they use are horrible and I end up swapping to the German stations just to keep my sanity on the way home.

Thanks again,
PISTOL
