Hey CIN, sorry to hear about your best friend, I hope all comes out well for the both of you.

I had a friend whose dog was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, she did have the transfusion done like you are doing for your dog. Then she focussed on b-complex vitamins, amino acids in his diet AND made sure his gut flora was up to par. We cannot manufacture red or white blood cells without those two things in our diet, and the gut bacteria have a significant role in the transportation of those two things through the gut wall, all mammals including us. I recommended to her that she get vitamins from a company called Dynamite, located in Meridian IDAHO. They are all natural, do not go the vet b-comp shot route it is synthetic substrated molecules that frankly don't work right in the body, stay with what the dogs system IS designed for - plants will provide excellent vits. She got the flora from a company named Conklin, they are located in Minnesota. I use both those product lines with my cats, dogs, and horses, best stuff there is on the current natural markets. I have extremely healthy animals, no vet bills. Disease is the absence of health, health is the absence of disease. Feed the body the correct nutrients in the correct molecular forms and function will restore, health will prevail.

By the way, I am not some run of the mill health nut, I am a Naturopathic Doctor. All this works for the humans I see in my office, will work for you dog too. Lots of articles on the Dynamite site, get educated about all of this if you can. It will help your time to pass and most importantly it will help you to help your dog.

Another update for you all,Brought Leevi home the Vet said his red cell count went up to 17% not as good as she thought. Although it is a big jump from where he was at.He is still really out of it, but he is getting up on his own.He is on a sensitive dog food,Science Diet I/D.Right now he is in my lap and we won't let eachother out of our site.

I can't Thank you all enough for being so supportive and being there for us!

CD, thank you for the info! Also we don't know how long this has been going on. I talked to the Vet yesterday and she got a really good biopsy and aspiration. I find out Tomorrow if the donor blood took.Hoping and praying for the best!

Thanks again Cin

Hey Cin.

I hope all goes well. One thing you need to know about red blood cells is that they have a lifespan of about 120 days, then they are recycled via the liver, transported to the spleen and broken down, from there the recycled materials are transported to the bone marrow to be used in new red blood cell production. So, effectively every day about 1/120th of our red blood cells are being recycled and reproduced. That basic 17% figure you got is relative to the 1/120th I am referring to. To really SEE a change from a transfusion, a true testing and data is about 30 days away, anything else is just a guestimate. A supplement like Linatone, which you can get at Pet Smart or someplace similar contains the b-complex and amino acide necessary for good red cell manufacturing. It could be that your feeds have been deficient in these crutial elements or the stuff being used in the name of the right elements is just out-n-out garbage.

When I have clients that have low red cell populations, the first thing I check into is chemical exposures in their feed and environment. I would bet this may be where your dog's problems stem from. Fertilizers, weed killers, especially Roundup, will affect red blood cell production and cause anemia. Also, commercial dog foods contain a lot of substrated vitamins that are actually from petroleum bases, man made elements that are replicas of vitamin molecules. They also use a lot of chemicals in feeds, and chemicals in the maintenance of food preservation, so chemicals are probably at the root of your dogs problems, they all preserve food AND they actually preserve us over time because our bodies do not eliminate them well. Recently we have had all those Chinese igredients that have caused a lot of pet deaths. The rest of the pet food industry uses things that are similar, so it still could be something on a similar scale only smaller doses that take longer for us to see them. Another place that red blood cell production can be affected is EMF. Esssentially electrical or radio frequencies can interfere with our own subtle electricl frequencies. So look around at things like proximity to electrical supply boxes, microwave towers, etc. There is a lot of controversy about the EMF stuff, but it DOES have validity.

I hope you take the time to look at the Dynamite site and further research information on pet foods, EMF, and the chemicals that is referenced on their site. It just might be a place to put your finger on some of you dog's problems. It all certainly become cumulative when your dogs specific type of health issue arise. Same applies to us humans, but it take a lot more years to evolve into a ton more problems in adults. Our children however are a much different story as they are experiencing thing very similar to your dog.

Wishing you and the pooch a speedy recovery.

Today is the day we go in to get blood work drawn to see where we are at.
Also gonna ask about a couple more alternatives.I have been told when you go with a donor dog you can't have anymore transfusions,it's like a 1 chance deal.I have also been told about the bone marrow transplant, but we have to wait for the results to come back to see where we stand with that.

CD,thank you for all the info on the vit. and everything else you have provided me with!

Just to let you all know,Tuesday when he had the surgeries he came out and his gums were a light peach color, yesterday, last night and this morning they are back to being white. I will find out at around 10:00 this morning.Praying for my puppy to come through this.Thenk you all for listening to us! Cin and Leevi

Now, his Aspiration came back as inconclusive,we are still waiting on the dry bone marrow, first they have to take the calcium out. I won't get those results til Monday or Tuesday.Thank you again ,we will keep you updated. Leevi's puppy paws and Cin
