Who wants to join the "Steel Wheels Club"?

Ahhh, I remember the old days when I too had a 92 W250 Long Box 4x4 w/ steel wheels. Kind of funny that I wanted bigger mud tires on it but there were NO tires for the stock 16" rims back then except for the stockers so I ended up with 16.5" steel Ford rims w/ 33"s on them and the stock center caps. I actually still have three of the center caps and all four trim rings that I pulled off those wheels.
Needless to say, you are in. sdseva= #5

I forgot about the 1st genners who had no choice but to get steel rims when the trucks were new. I have changed the requirement to any factory painted style steel wheels.
Good catch 93-331-29psi. I may appoint you to my cabinet.....

Coated, as in powder coated? Why? I just took mine into the shower with some wheel cleaner and cleaned them up. Got a pint of Rust-O-Leum gloss black and brush at Lowe's, spent about 20 minutes with a paint brush and let them air dry over night. Note, bachelors only can do this. Wives get upset about wheels in the shower, or gears in the oven, or socks on the lamps.
Can I be in the "Steel Wheels Club" since it seems I inspired it? I promise not to talk about.....um.....whatever it is we aren't supposed to talk about. I've run painted black steel rims for years. (I sold the El Camino SS years ago. I still have the old black truck, it's what the red truck was bought to replace.)

biododge1, it looks like your job will be pretty easy so far. I'm a pretty clean dude and it doesn't look like there is going to be a mad rush to sign up. I may have to let you in just to have someone to talk to while cincydiesel cleans the place up. He's now the cleanup crew for offending us.......

Grouch, you will be #6 but I'll have to argue with you about "Inspiring" this look. I've been doing it off and on since the early 80s. You're in either way...
Rampage1967 of course you are in. Nobody said they had to be painted a specific color. You are #7

Sakes, I've been running black wheels with dog dish hub caps (or just chrome lug nuts) since I got my license in '72. I like the clean look and the ability to make a field repair to get home. Bend an alloy rim and you've ruined a rim. Bend a steel rim, you can beat it back with a D.B.H., air it up and get home.
