having been around the world, with a compass, Im quite convinced its round...
and along flight to get around it...
Left brunei and flew west south west for two hours to get to singapore, started north east for about 9 hours to Tokyo. north north east turning east, then back in a south-southeast direction for about 18 hours got me to Dallas. a hop home then few days later a hop east got me to Memphis. again a north north east, east, southeast 10 hour flight and I was in Amsterdam. 9 hours east got me in Almaty, turn around and three hours due west to Aktau.
Aktau to Brunei is three time zones off. I checked my compass regularly just because I get tired of watching movies so I watch the inflight progress screen.

I have the speed dial plug in for mine. (I use Firefox, might go back to Opera though... Trying to keep everything open source this go round. At least for a while.)
My Dad did an "around the world" flight too this past summer. IIRC it was Tulsa to Scotland, to Turkey, to China, back home, all flights headed east...
