Well.......sort of. Indiana dropped the safety inspection back around 1978 or so since everybody played with it and it was unenforcable. I had a pickup fail and just scraped the orange failure sticker off and the police nver bothered me for the year or so after thta until they dropped the inspection altogether. However, some municipalities do have emmisions inspecdtions. I think over at New Albany was talking about it.

Only thing Indiana has is emissions testing now, but only in the counties of Lake, Porter, Clark, and Floyd. The vehicles that have a GVWR of 9k lbs or less have to be tested. I don't think diesels have to be tested at all yet but I know all gassers do. If you plate your truck at 10k lbs then you are exempt from testing. I haven't had to test my 02 CTD but I've always plated it at 10k lbs because I need to for towing.

Alaska no. Anchorage and Fairbanks was I/M every two years except diesels which are one time only.

Arkansas used to have a safety inspection but did away with it some years ago. So now its nothing, nada, neit...but don't think for a minute that a Trooper won't pull you over for a cracked windshield.
