Good info, I didnt know the history. I'm from up in Elkhart/South Bend area and I've never heard of any type of emissions.

Only thing Indiana has is emissions testing now, but only in the counties of Lake, Porter, Clark, and Floyd. The vehicles that have a GVWR of 9k lbs or less have to be tested. I don't think diesels have to be tested at all yet but I know all gassers do. If you plate your truck at 10k lbs then you are exempt from testing. I haven't had to test my 02 CTD but I've always plated it at 10k lbs because I need to for towing.

Alaska no. Anchorage and Fairbanks was I/M every two years except diesels which are one time only.

I never had to have my truck inspected; only weighed when I first bought it.

Arkansas used to have a safety inspection but did away with it some years ago. So now its nothing, nada, neit...but don't think for a minute that a Trooper won't pull you over for a cracked windshield.
