In this photo released by the Michigan State Police, Ben Carpenter, a 21-year-old Kalamazoo, Mich., man, is shown in his motorized wheelchair stuck to the front grill of this semi truck where he was pushed eastbound on Red Arrow Highway near Paw Paw, Mich., Wednesday, June 6, 2007, for several miles at about 50 mph (80 kph), authorities said. The young man, reportedly unhurt, was quoted by police as saying, 'It was quite a ride"

they showed the tires from the wheel chair on the news and they were all ate up. im glad no one was hurt, I was listen to the trucker channel on xm radio the announcer made a joke about it was a good thing it was a freightliner cause 50 mph was about all the faster it could go the news said the kid was buckeled in and the only thing that happend was he spilled his pop and lost his hat. His dad said in the interview that they were going to write a letter to the wheelchair company for building such a good chair

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
I can't help but think maybe he did that on purpose.
How do you manage to get the handles of your wheelchair stuck perfectly and evenly in the front grill of a truck? For that to happen he would have had to either have been going directly away from the front of the truck and gotten "rear ended" (which I find hard to believe since the trucker would have seen him) OR he would have had to have gotten into position and BACKED into the grill fast enough to stick it.
The story I saw said he got caught in front of the truck as the truck was pulling away from a truck stop and the driver didn't see him, but again, it seems like he'd have to be "leading" the truck for this to happen...which would probably cause the trucker to see him.
And do all wheelchairs have seat belts?
Kind of sounds to me like a 21 year old looking for a thrill ride, but I could be wrong.

I agree Hoss, it seems a little to planned out than just an accident. If it would have been me, the truck would have clipped my chair and tossed me under the truck!
Either way I bet it was a heck of a ride!
