My friend really loves his quadrasteer when towing his boat. It swings the rear around a corner better and is great backing up. He turns it off otherwise.

Next time I will have to look into that. I pick them up new and don't do much fooling with them other than the inspection. Generally I don't even turn off the stereo that the yard people turn on to .... rap usually

Re:What Kind of Truck Was This???
dont know why they dont get smart and put a switch in that turns on rear wheel steer when needed like for maneuvering at real low speeds and then automatic shut off at 15 mph or greater but i know from expierience its sometimes real hard to be smart

Buy one of those trucks and have fun a couple years down the road when those quadrasteer components start breaking and having malfunctions, then it will be really sweet right :. I think if you are going to get a truck accept the truck like abilities.
-You will have a bad turning radius
- If you want a truck to ride like a luxury car dont buy a truck
Trying to solve these problems by using a 4 wheel sterring system IMO will disapear in a few years because of too many complicated problems they will have with this technology.
And for the use of IFS no ground clearance suspensions :. I think we may all be doomed. Lets hope the companies that will keep actually making TRUCKS dont get pushed around because people want a luxury ride and are able to park in a grocery lot without having to back up and go foreward a few times :
If i was too harsh just erase this post..

Hey7 BIGCUMMINZ, I agree with you 100 % man.
Wait till you take it in for front end work and find out you have to do 2 front ends!! you get to pay another 4 grand for that groovy option. :
As far as the IRS goes, in the half tons etc it is truly a great idea since ride quality is greatand since most ppl with half tons only work it now and then that seems to work pretty good.
The 3/4 and 1 ton trucks should probably stay straight axle until someone comes out with a proper 4x4 system for the front end( something thats like the original hummer drop down drive units or like seen on 4x4 farm tractors). IMHO that is the best way to achieve a good 4x4 system up front while still maintaining consistant ground clearance.

I think the rear steering plays a bigger part in long vehicles. When trailering, you still have a bend point usually within the top 1/3 of the entire rig. I have been on some large charter buses with minimal rear steering and it help tremendously; but you dont have the pivot point like trailering.

I think it is a good idea and would hope that G.M. andf Delhpi got it right before they unleashed it on the unsuspecting public. I would think the repair bills could get a little steep if something in the rear ram set up were to fail after the warrenty period.

Prediction:
Several years from now the people who bought this great idea will be looking to unload them on an unsuspecting in-duh-viduals or change out the works to conventional fixed rearends.
Or maybe they will just get Bubba to weld everything "as straight as you can get it"
I would love to have a Cummins-powered H1 Hummer. The H2s are a sissified attempt to appeal to the masses with the luxo trappings and glitter. If I could afford both an ex-military H1 and a divorce............

Re:What Kind of Truck Was This???
Where have you guys been? Those GMC Denali Seiaras have been out for a couple of years. They where the first to have the quad steer. You have been able to buy a regulare Chevy silverado with the quad steer for over a year. We have them running around all over the place in this area. There is even a guy around that has the crew cab with the quadra steer ($$$). I seen a light duty 3/4 ton gmc with it a couple of days ago. It looked neet but I would be real hesitant to load it real heavy. They use a rack and pinion unit in the back that is simaler to what you find in the front of most cars and IFS trucks. I would think it wouldent give to many more fits than its counter part up front. For the extra cost they sure do seem to be selling a lot of them.
