This article gives some suggestions on what to do with your tax refund: Click Here
BOMB'ing is not listed as one of the suggestions, I can't believe it. I guess the author didn't ask members here for any of their valuable financial advice/opinions

Look at it another way.
You didn't give Uncle Sam an interest-free loan all year long.

We got back.
It's going to waterproof the basement at the rental house.

Better idea, don't send the government any money to start with.

Well Edwin, that's a great idea!!!

Looking into it, I see that taxes are completely optional! Guess I won't be paying anything this year.

Don't be silly! Everybody pays taxes. It's just that some people seem to think they have to help the government in their daily screwing of their slaves. Some people actually have MORE money than necessary withheld in order to get a bigger refund. This is lunacy!

People should try to figure their withholding in order to have as close to being even or at least underpay by a little bit. The government pays NO interest on the overpayment.

I'm self-employed so I pay quarterly and a little extra to make up the shortfall on April 15th.

There are those however who believe, with some credibility, that the individual income tax does not apply to ordinary people. It only applies to corporations and people doing business with foreigners. There are also those who believe, also with some credibility, that the 16th amendment was never properly ratified and therefore the income tax is completely illegal.

[Sound of can of worms opening]

Just a idea. If you have to PAY, and you did not take all the deductions allowed. You can do an amened tax return. And you have a couple of years to do the amended return. Study the tax stuff.
gud luk

Funny you mention that. I have an uncle who is part of some group that believes they should not have to pay taxes. He hasn't paid any income tax for many years now. Last October, the IRS took possession of his VERY nice house and everything in it as payment for all of his back taxes. He was once a very wealthy man. He's now broke and living in a homeless shelter.

Back to refunds....we got $1172 back. Haven't decided for sure what to do with it yet.

I'm taking the $5000 I'm getting back, and applying it towards my daughter's wedding in November. It's now all paid for!
