What "Current" product is available for "Rust Proofing" your vehicle
In my previous post, I stated I just bought a low mile, clean, 1997 Dodge 4x4 (Gas 360ci Gas engine, quad cab) What is the current rust proofing material available for do it yourselve'ers. I used to rust proof new cars/Trucks at my Fathers new car dealership (Dodge/Plymounth Chrysler) which we used Rusty Jones & chryslers rust proofing (same as used on Rolls Royce's)..this was many, many years ago. I want a product that penetrates welded seams, & crevices. I may still have the spray wands & gun equipment. There is a difference between rust proofing material & undercoating, & I don't want the spray can rubberizered stuff in my doors/etc. We used to drill holes in the rocker panels, sill panels, & apply the material with long wands & spray guns, until it seaps out the seams. The vehicles would have to sit overnight, with matts underneath, to catch the dripping. But boy this stuff really worked, as years later the vehicles were still rust free. We then capped the holes with a plastic plug...rusty jones, like others, are no longer in business. So, again, I'am looking for a web site, or link where I can order this material. I did use search on this form, & got several pages of reading material. However, much of the comments were several years old & some names are no longer available. Thanks in advance!!

I bought a 93 D350 that looked like it had never been driven in the rain last fall. Took it to Zieibart , and they sprayed that stinky stuff in all the hidden spots, and also used the rubber stuff underneath. Cost about $500. It would cost a little more if they have to deal with any amount of rust, but this thing was like new.
Same job as new vehicle, just no guarantee. I trust them.
I paint whatever mods I weld/bolt on with the rubber spray can stuff.
If there's a little rust present for catalyst, the rust converter products work pretty good, also. I've used it on metal that was almost rusted through, and stopped the decay.

I've heard good things about a product called POR-15. A friend of mine is a mechanic and coated the undercarriage of his father's 96 Impala with it at least 6 years ago, which gets driven daily. I saw underneath it a few weeks ago and it still had no rust at all. It was dirty, but no break throughs. I think he just brushed it on, but I'm pretty sure you can spray it too.
