What is the best wax?

Diesel Gods,
What is the best wax you've used on your trucks? ??? I use Turtle wax paste. Which does OK, :- but I'm looking for a high gloss shine. What brands of wax have you used? How long did it last? How does it look? How often do you apply a new coat of wax to your truck? Thanks for the info. Love my Cummins. 8)

Re:What is the best wax?

I start with a bar of clay to remove surface containments, then something called scratch X, then #7 polishing compound and finish off with a good wax (im using up a bottle of eagle one). All items are Meguiars.

My brother does detailing as his profession and he will not use anything but mothers or meguires. He says whatever you use make sure it has caranuba in it.

Re:What is the best wax?

I like the mequires 3 step system

cleaner, polish, wax ......if there's scrathes I hit em with scrath x .........wax about once a month, use quick detailer between waxes ............all mequires

the wax is just a protective layer...........you need to polish it first to make her really shine

I love Zaino bros polish. Best gloss enhancement I have seen. Paint gets deeper w/ each coat. No white residue. It can dry slow in high humidity.

Re:What is the best wax?

I just bought a complete Zaino Bother's system and it's hands down the best I've ever used.

You can also by an additive that makes it dry faster for adding more than one coat.

Really good stuff but not cheap.

Liquid Glass--awesome stuff, you can blow the road dust right off, and you can build coats. I'm shooting for at least TEN coats before another nasty winter. Slightly easier to use than paste wax, IMO.

Re:What is the best wax?

Down here in Florida, I need a wax that has a High UV rating and very durable in the heat and salt. I've tried many differant waxes.

The best one for me, that is easy to put on and get off, provides the protection for this area is 3M Boat Wax. You can get it a WalMart about 11 bucks a pint. They also have a wax/rubbing compound called, Restorer. It works real good
on small areas.

I also use it on my 5fer. Last waxed was November 2002 and its still beading real good.

Try a small bottle, 1/2 pint, and compare it to your wax. It shines real good.

Zano. Expensive but leaves a mirror shine on any color.
