Exclamation What is a 94 2500 worth?

A friend of mine just got a 94 2500, regular cab, auto, 4x4. It is just a "work truck." No power windows, locks, carpet etc. The truck has about 240k miles on it. He traded a different truck he had for it, and now he realized that he doesn't need the truck. He wants to sell it to pay off some bills. There is some rust on the bottom of the doors, and from the doors back to the cab corner. The tires are bald. The exhaust needs to be replaced. The drivers window does not go up or down because the gears are stripped. There is something wrong with the brakes and power steering. The power steering leaks a little. The brakes work, but the pedal is hard to push. Maybe those two things are the same problem; I don't know. The truck basically needs to be completely gone over. So, with all that said, is it worth $4,000, or should I talk him down a little?

That truck around here would be worth about a thousand bucks...no more.

I've found the a good way to get started on value is to look in the area that your in [ conditions of each area affect price ] , ask your friend what he wants .
A running motor seems to start at $2,000-2,500 , maybe in S.D. you could get one for $100 .

I live in red-neck truck pulling country.

People will walk barefooted through hot coals, just to get a chance to bid on a 94-98 Cummins truck, regardless of body condition.

On the other hand, they won't even consider a 24 valve.

Around here, running engine = $3500 plus.

$4000 is a good price...

You could strip it and get more than that out of it...

Why would you spend 4,000 on a worn out old truck,by the time its in decent shape it will be 10k. truck, still worth about 4,000.

Some people just need a strong work truck...

I wish I could have bought this instead of my 95 360 4 years ago...

I like to buy reasonable/cheap and put money in a truck as I can afford to, rather than getting underneath a load of payments.

A $40,000 truck will, in most cases, be worth about $3500 once it is paid off, so I can't see that as being a good investment.

On top of that is higher insurance and property taxes.
