Went for a awesome ride

Have to smile, setting here in balmy Alaska, been 20 to 30 above. Went for a 30 mile ride on 4 wheelers up a glacieated canyon, ice was built up over 5-6 feet deep allowing us to drive over most of the boulders. The glacier is formed by a big spring at the head of the canyon. that is still running and as it overflows it will refreeze, it keeps building up thicker an thicker, some times we would break thru a thin layer letting water out on the surface making it nice an slick. It took some creative riding to get up a 5% grade of ice, we had to use winches and willows to get up as far as we did. Goin to try it again this weekend, see if we can get a little higher up. Anyone wanna go let me know...

I'd be more worried about coming down! Sounds like fun though.... I've been patiently waiting for it to warm up a little here, lows around -5 to -15 and highs around 5 above, so I can get out with friends and atv in the snow.

You would have to stud the heck out a sleds track to make it up where we went, also the rocks would be hard to negotiate, an the snow is not much more than a foot deep.

Down here, they're threatening evacuations in a few places. Rivers starting to back up from ice dams forming.

I just wish it would make it into the 30's for awhile around here, that would be a heat wave for us!

Yeah I'm sick of it myself. I've got horses that need to be worked. It did manage to pull out a 67 degree day yesterday for some odd reason then cool back down to 24 last night with a high in the 30s today. That was nice break.
