I feel for you Jim. I couldn't live that way. I left Orange County Costa Mesa, in 1970 when it still was a good place to live. Went back 20 yrs later to visit old high school friends & most have moved to Capistrono. Way too many people for my likeing.

We have Asian gangs, Central American Gangs, and your 'normal' DC neighborhood "Crews".
The Asians and Latinos pretty much stay to themselves, not much trouble with them if you're not "Flying Colors".
To the "Crews", it seems anything that moves is fair game.
***It's all about "Situational Awareness", avoiding confrontation and being prepared if there's no way out.
We're all gaining a lot from you sharing your experiences.

You all have seen what my truck looks like, I feel REAL uneasy driving to alot of the places I have to work in. Not for the fact they will steal my truck, but what they will do to me to get it.
"avoiding confrontation and being prepared if there's no way out."
I have learned to do this at a young age and it is something to live by, literally.
This is a war zone and it is far worse than most people want to belive it is.
Tonight was the 3 year anniversary of the killing of LACO Deputy March, 4 miles from me, he was ambushed and exicuted by a notorious gangbanger (illegal) which fled to mexico.
If you got a chance to read the link in my first post you will see it is not safe in Southern California. Along the I605 fwy between El Monte and Pico Rivera it is nicknamed the "killing field" because that is where the gangs kill and dump the bodies.
Sorry to ramble on... I am done now. Jim.
