I'm heading out this weekend with the famdamly to cut a tree out of the bush...
Do you cut one down, go buy one , or get it out of the attic/basement (artificial)

My wife pulls out the ol' aluminium tree from the 50's! Its a hoot!

Remember those? With the color wheel that spins in front of it so the tree changes color? We bought one at an antique store. Its pretty cool as we live in a 125 year old farm house.

I'm very picky when it comes to christmas. We've got a 12' tall aritifcial that we've had for 13 years. We had to "prune" the lower branches because they hung so low. It's a royal PIA to put lights on, but it looks so pretty when it's decorated. I also have to go to Idabel, Oklahoma to see all of my relatives. We cram 50 people into like a mobile home around a 5' tall tree. I love it.

We get ours from those places you see pop up in parking lots and the like. The last few years we have been getting them from a local men's group at a local church but this year they weren't selling on the day we went to get a tree (sat after thanksgiving) so ended up getting it from the local fire dept baseball league fund raiser.

We normally get a Douglas Fir but this year went with a... duh can't remember but it's a green one with real long soft needles. Sherri (management) picked it out this year.

So far it's holding up well.

But did end up spending most of the time talking to the guy running the sales about our Cummins. He has a 95 as well so not all was lost!

Flashback from my chiildhood!! My Grandmother had one of those aluminum trees with the color wheel. My sister has the tree now and she puts it up every year.

We have NEVER had a tree any smaller than 12'. And we have 50 acres a CRP ground that always ends up needing a little "thinning out" around Christmas.

The whole relatives thing, you couldn't cram us into anything less than a double wide (most of us ARE "double wide") . We usually have Christmas at our house for lunch, then go to Grandma's for dinner. Don't know what were doing for dinner this year, Grandma passed away in October, so we'll have to find another house that can hold us all .

Whatever you do, have a good one,
Chris

I like real trees, even with the mess, but the BOSS doesnt so we have a fake that stays decorated year round and just gets carried up from the basement ..
Spend Christmas eve with the bosses side, then road trip down to Anadarko to be with my side by X-Mas morning.... this year we may just stay home tho and enjoy just "us"
