We lost another good one!
Carl Heap passed away yesterday due to complications of Pneumonia. Carl ws the driver of the Phoenix streamliner truck that ran 290 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats. Carl was a great competitor and will be sorely missed.

I'm sorry to hear about his death. I remember Heap and his rig, I believe it was green? and I seem to remember it was powered by a humongus diesel instead of a jet one? How did you hear of his death? He was featured in CarandDriver a couple of years back. Nat

Sorry to here this. Carl was a great guy with alot of diesel savy. His shop in Grants Pass or. has done good work on my truck. Never seen the Pheonix run, but Carl took me out to his house to show it to me. It has the body of a 1937 k-7 Intrnational. My Boss has one it was his dads 1st fuel delivery truck.
Carl is up there setting new records on the great salt flats in the sky.
