A buddy of mine has been a train engineer for a few years and told me of a gal that was high on drugs and driving at a high rate of speed when she hit his train ... the BACK of the train !!! He said she died on impact ... probably best that way, it would be hard to live that one down.

I didn't see if the driver made it or not, but if he did he's one lucky man.

Note to everyone....no matter how big your truck is....the train will ALWAYS win.

Being a bit of a train enthusiast, I've seen lots of stories of train / vehicle collisions. Saw one recently where a guy ran into the MIDDLE of a train. He was lucky enough to live. In my hometown when I was a kid, I remember one time when an older fella on a riding mower was hit by a Southern Pacific train while crossing the tracks (heading to the mower repair shop). Needless to say, he was killed instantly. I can recall many other train / car collisions in my hometown....all because of several blind crossings with no gates. I don't think any of them ever lived to tell about it.

Bottom line.....don't mess with trains.

So.....anyone know if the guy lived or not? You don't get to ride on Careflite unless you're in awfully bad shape.
