Watch out Japan!
Because Typhoon Longwang is 500 miles east-southeast of Okinawa with maximum sustained winds near 140 mph; the storm will maintain its strength during the next 24-36 hours as it plows westward.

I was concerned with Hurricane Rita after I saw this picture of its path, but this hurricane sounds even worse!

Even better. It's not just Typhoon, it's Super Typhoon. I know that someone from Japan had a hand in that naming strategy. Everything over there is "Super xxxx"

Glad that thing developed north of us (Guam). If you look at where that track started you will see an island to the right. That is Saipan, next one south of that is Tinian (where the B-29s that dropped the atomic bomb was based), south of that is Rota, and south of that is Guam. We are in Typhoon season now. I am prepared for any typhoon that comes our way. Got a 60kW genset out back for backup power, a 500 gallon water tank with a booster pump to feed the house, and the house is "storm proof".
BTW the name Longwang suprised me too when I check the Typhoon warning center's website. I almost sprayed coffe all over the moniter when I saw it.
