I live in Illinois, what do i have to do?

1.decide what you want to hunt.
2. decide where you want to hunt.
3.get a firearm appropriate for the game your going to hunt
4. get the correct ammo.
5.get a copy of your states game regulations.
6. get your hunters safety license (you will have to go to the next county, even I have heard bad things about the county chicago is in)
7.buy your hunting license.
8. get land owners permission
9.have fun, be safe.

Along with all the stuff Fronty posted, find somebody that has been hunting in the area for awhile, and even if they wont take you hunting, pick their brains, become one of their friends, and you will learn so much its crazy.

Having someone's brain to pick is handy.
Also, learn to look for ALL the signs of the game you seek. scat, litter, feed, shelter along with tracks.

What are you planning on hunting? Its a bit late in the year to start looking for deer.
