want to bring new yamaha quad back from US
I need some info from the people who have brought new Yamaha quads back from the US. I understand there is no warranty up here, but I can save over $3500.00 by going to the US (that buys ALLOT of warranty).
I spoke with the Yamaha dealer in Livingston, MT and he said the only thing is that you have a US address to register it. I have some fiends, er I mean friends in the US so getting an address won't be an issue, but is there anything that I'm missing? I know I have to pay GST at the Alberta border (and PST in Saskatchewan, I'll pay it, I PROMISE!!! )
I have brought back work equipment before from the US without issue, but something does not seem right, this is just too easy.

Whats the US address for? Probably for the dealer so that he does not lose his annual alotment of that model you are buying because it is exported.
I would go to this site...
http://www.riv.ca/importingavehicle.aspx
And make sure you have all the answers.
I know I had to submit the paperwork for my truck to the USA side 72 hrs BEFORE I left the USA and imported to Canada.

I think you'll be ok once you get some answers from the gov up here.
Not sure if you will have to follow the 72 hour rule at the USA side or not with what you are buying.

Friend bought an Arctic Cat snowmobile from North Dakota several years ago. He owns a fishing lodge up north and had some clients from North Dakota. My friend wrote the check, the bill of sale was made out to the ND resident, who in turn made out a bill of sale to my friend. I am not sure if he had to go through a broker.
The dealers need a US address. This all a part of the rip off we see where toys cost less in the US then up here. The Canadian Dealers put pressure on the manufacturer's because they have lost a lot of sales because of the price difference. At first it was blamed on the difference in the dollar. Now they have no excuse.
