Virginia driver watch your tint

Just got pulled over this morning. Apparently a State trooper was killed recently and the main cause was the shooter was in a car that was blacked out and the trooper never had a chance. So their is a crackdown on tint. I will admit mine is too dark, but I had no clue it was only 15%. I have no problem getting this fixed, and completly understand why the boys in blue are cracking down, I guess I just never thought it was a big deal.
Cop was great let me go with a warning. Talked to me about my height and the law, stacks and Virginia law, and my Estimated and Governed weight on my registaration. Which I knew was wrong from day one, but I liked the personal property tax relief I recievd with standard tags. But no more my EW is 7287, and GW is 7500 . Guess Im headed to DMV today. Just wanted to pass the word, cause they are looking for ya.

RyeThomas,
Congratulations on the warning. I recently was invited to traffic court with a speeding ticket and just got classroom time. Was all set to pay the fine with four points on my license (I was speeding 16 over), but the additional road abuse tax was the kicker. From what I could read from the regulations, I would have had a $300 bill for each of three years.... Just on in-state residents. VA Residents watch the speed limit!!!
Also just received the Annual County Personal Property Tax bill-$1100. No relief there with the max weight (10,000#) registered.

And worse Prince William County and some other Norther Virginia areas are now making you run an emissions test on diesels in order to re new tags. 1996 or newer diesel vehicles.

Yeah I need to do something. DMVs site states all 1997 and newer with a manufacturers designated gross vehicle weight of 8500lbs or less. HUMM?

Thats kind of what I was thinking is Smarty on 0. I just hope I could pull it in the bay to be smogged on 1/2 power . Im still a little confused on the manufacturers designated gross vehicle weight. I am going to DMV to change my registration to at least 10K and would like to go to 15K. But I have no clue what they consider the manufacturers gross vehicle weight. Cause my truck weighs well over the 7287lbs GW that dodge and the DMV say it should. Oh and its gonna be real funny watching them hook the machine to my stacks, cause I have no desire to losen up my flex pipe. Good thing my tags are good till 08 so some of you boys can figure how to pass.
