Navy (1979-1996), 16yrs, 9mos and 28days. They said I could retire early and I said "SEE YA!!!".

Retired as an ET1(SW) with little or no hope of making ETC (guess I made too many people mad along the way ). Spent 11 years as an E-6 .

I was thinking the same thing. My co worker is a CG reservist. I always joke with him about the CG being the minor league team for the Navy. When you get really good in the CG you get moved up to the real navy!!!!

While we give the Coasties a hard time, they were the ones that performed the majority of the "Brown Water" operations in Vietnam while training the Navy to do the same.

Another 2E2 eh? Well, guess you were a 2E3 to start out with...

I'm USAF, 8 years and counting. 2E271, which is some long drawn out name for computers/telephone switching/networking/cryptography maintenance.

Stationed at Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo TX for the last 4 years, I absolutely hate it here. Got hired into a special duty comm unit out at Ft. Bragg, but USAF won't support joint-spouse out at Pope AFB, so I lost the job. I'm still pretty bitter about that.

Did a year at Osan (S. Korea) and 2+ yrs in the 1st Combat Comm in Germany (Ramstein AB).

Army 1963-71
Quit when new program for retaining lower rank EM required SSG E-6 to stand guard mount and perform as private of the guard !!!
Had to report to the commanding General, Ft Bliss, Texas for "consultation". The CG told me I would be E-7 within 6 months and not required to perform guard duty, but agreed I could be required to perform CQ at Battery level.
