Vegas Trip, 110+ deg, 2-Stroke/ULSD/EGTs
I'm Back! I only managed to take $50.00 of there money. We had a blast! Truck ran great, fuel mileage was awesome! We went to the Excaliber and saw the Tournament of Kings, that was fun! Did some shopping, wondered around the casinos, sipped Pina Coladas by the canal in the Venetian, did the Fremont street experience while sipping margaritas and the best part was shopping @ BASS PRO SHOPS! Whoo hoo! (I was like a women in a shoe store.)Glad to be back home to my 65-70 deg weather, they can keep those 110-115 degree days.
Ok guys so here are facts/finding on the way my truck performed.
-Miles= 890, 41 gallons of fuel (Ultra low sulfur), 1qt of 2-stroke mixed with 1 bottle of stanadyne @ fill ups = 21.7 MPG, cruising 70-73 mph.
Now these numbers were with the A/C running for 90% of the trip, some long, long grades, I could hear the fan clutch engaged the whole time, until I got back over to the coast. The engine temp gauge sat about 195-200 most of the trip, I saw the T-stat open 3 times on a couple of the long pulls on 15 and each time the truck cooled down to about 180-190 and slowly creeped back upto the 195-200 mark. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way the truck ran. I was a little concerned about the engine temp, any thoughts?
Tye
P.S. I embarrased a D-max owner on the long pull up 15 (south). He slowed when passing me and nodded, I wasn't interested, he punched it and tried to pull away, but as we came around the corner this grade instantly steepn's, he started loosing it as I muscled right past him, 73mph, cruise set.

Hey Tye, if it makes you feel any better, I ran about the same temps coming back from Rancho Mirage this week.....similar grades and 112* ambient, running around 80 MPH. Pretty consistent at 1000-1100* EGT and 9-14lbs of boost with the cruise set.
Then again, I have a lowly 2nd Gen with 235K on it.....
I bought a plate cooler with a fan to cool the trans when I pull my toy hauler, I was was gonna add it downstream of the factory cooler, but the trans only ran about 35-40* above ambient. Now I'm thinking about running my oil through the factory cooler instead.....oil temp got up to 204*, and that was running unloaded
