>>> V-belt Measuring Question ???
I found a site that has quality long V-belts for about 1/3 the cost I have been paying around here locally.
B-series belts.
I made a mark on the outside surface of each of the two belts that I use and, with my lovely assistant helping, measured around the length of each belt.
The one that fits my WOODS belly-mower measured 207" long.
The one for my band-saw-mill measured 82" long.
The industry standard part designation for the 207" belt is B204; and, the designation for the 82" belt is B79.
Can someone explain why the part #s are three integers shy of the actual length ??
Common sense tells me that the 207" belt should be a B207 and the 82" belt a B82.
Thanks.

The vendor is REID SUPPLY; I have no notion as to country of origin.
High mileage is not a real factor in my selection for these applications, as they usually succumb to either getting cut in two, or thrown from the pulleys and chewed up; this happens to them whether they are made in Toledo Spain or Hong Kong, and can happen to the new one I just installed yesterday as quick as it can to one that might be almost worn-out.
It's a rough life out there for drive-belts.

Here's what I did,
If you have an 82" circumference, divide it by 3.1415 and came up with 26.102" diameter. Minus .500", roughly thickness of belt between outside diameter and inside diameter and that was 25.602" I.D, multiply that by 3.1415 and you have 80.429", little less than 80-1/2. So you've effectively lost 1-1/2" by 1/2" thickness of the belt. A 5/8" thick belt is .036" over 80 inches and if it was a 3/4" thick belt that would put you in the 79-1/2 range.
You could always carry the belts to the zone or napa and have them measure them for you, don't mean you have to buy just say you were checking.
Math is our friend....and really cool!
