V-10 is biting the big one.
Sad to say the Dodge 8.0 litre V-10 is being discontinued. I recieved a memo from DC yesterday that there are 356 V-10's left in the engine bank in the Saltillo plant and once those are gone there are no more being produced. There no CTD, but I'm gonna miss it :'( :-[

My cousin is going to hate that. He loves his V10 and has close to 200k on the one he has now. Guess he will be getting a Hemi now ;D
DM01

Sad news indeed, but expected. Before my current ride I owned '95 and '98 V10 Rams. If you can overlook the lower mpg, they were awesome beasts. Very reliable and quite powerful. Diesel-like in acceleration with all that low RPM torque as I noted comparing my new ride to my former. Don't expect to see it, but a HEMI V10 would sure be cool.

This confirms the rumors on other boards. As I have said to you before, Luke, my 97 was a SWEET truck

Why does Dodge continue to handicap themselves? No TRUE crew cab, and now, no big gasser to compete with Ford and Chevy.

This has been obvious with their advertising all year for the HDs - all they mentioned was the Hemi, or the CTD. For those who tow heavy, or haul heavy, and don't want a diesel, will now have to go to Ford or GM, because the 375 lb ft Hemi will not cut it.

This makes me sick.

This makes me wonder if the SRT-10 will be a "One-Year Wonder" or if they will continue to put the Viper motor in some of these hotrod trucks.

Luke, is your dealership going to get any of these monsters ? Sure would like to know how much jingle it would take to get one.

PISTOL

Hey Luke, I have heard rumors of a 6.1 liter hemi becoming available in the next year or two, is there anything to that?
If they do produce a 6.1 and slap two more cylinders on like they did with the old 360 to make a v-10, sign me up right now.

Psssst..... bring back the 426! That would probably be sweet with modern fuel injection. Save the elephant!

That's too bad but like all good things, they must come to an end. How about the old 225 and the 318? It was a sad day when they stopped making them not to mention the old 426 and a few others.........

Yeah, the price of the smaller ones shot up when the drag race industry used up the 426 blocks. Shoot a "repaired" bare block would bring $4-6000 10 years ago. The only problem with the early, small ones is the power to weight ratio.
