USB to SERIAL Driver Install (NOT WORKING)

Trying to update my predator. I have the USB to Serial cable and was installed on my computer until I needed a new hard drive. Went to install the software and every single time, with the disc, it says its an install fail. I have tried every option on the internet with no success. Do I need to buy new cable? Ive only used it once and it cost $14 so Im thinking this is a rip off. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a lot of problems with trying to get the usb 2 serial connection working. I finally decided to go to my local pc shop and buy a PCI serial card. I think i found one for about $20. Now I have a solid, native serial connection with no problems. Not sure if that route is an option for you, but just wanted to suggest it as a possibility.

You shouldn't need a driver for a cable.

I'm forced to use USB to serial since most newer computers don't have the old 9 pin D connector, and all the routers and switched I work on still have the 9 pin.

You could have a bad cable, or your USB hub (inside the computer) might need drivers or is going south. If you've had to replace the hard drive recently, you may not have all the drivers your computer needs to run properly and this would cause your issue.

How do I get all the drivers working properly? I need some help here. I had no issues with the install on the other hard drive but this one just laughs at me and I want to install an RKL tune.

Use the serial number or service tag at the laptop manufacturer's website, and you'll be able to download all your drives.

If you want, send me the number and who made it (Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc.) and I'll send you the link to the drivers page for your system.

I use a Keyspan USB to Serial and it works fine. I'm running Win7 Pro.
