Tulsa linemen based at the fairgrounds.
As some of you know we had a small ice storm here in the mid west this is a shot of the service trucks at the Tulsa farigrounds. My sister inlaw works for PSO/AEP and took this shot they have setup shop at the fairgrounds for the out of state workers there are over 1500 extra workers who have been called in to help. We lost power and even with all the extra help they aren't expecting to have it back on until after the first of the year. Theyre are literally miles of transmission lines laying on the ground not to mention all the small feeders going to houses.

Awesome picture. Don't see that everyday.
The last I heard in our paper was a group of South Dakota Linemen were down there and a bunch of there copper and tools was stolen out of their trucks of at the hotel.
Brings out the best when tragedy strikes I guess.
Been keeping in touch with family in Kansas that didn't get it too bad though. Those ice storms through that region really suck. I've been caught in a couple of them.
Have a good one.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing, and I hope the power problems are resolved much sooner rather than later.

Not my worst nightmare, still unpleasant though. We lost power for about 10 hours the other night during the storm, gotta say I love my generator, especially having well water. We were stooooopid busy at the tow co. I work for, the fulltimers were at work fo 2-3 days straight. I was busy at the station also. Oh well thats the way it goes.

I saw a whole convoy of line trucks headed north this morning, going up US 69, south of Greenville Texas. My guess is they were headed to OK/MO.
Got me wondering: Who co-ordinates all the out of town trucks and crews, is there a central "check in/staging" area and where do they all stay. Those pics answer part of the question

My sister in law is coordinating the guys here in tulsa who came to help PSO. She is a manager for them but when something like this happens everyone just fills in where needed so she has been in charge of keeping track of everyone. She had her people trying to find 1500 queen size air mattresses and 1500 sets of white sheets they could only find 1000. Imagine calling Dillards and asking for 1000 queen size sheet sets.
