Triple Crown

Anybody watch the Belmont Stakes last night? I don't normally keep up, but that was a sweet race. Huge upset. Unfortunately the winner only got about 15 seconds of fame. The Media ran right up to Smarty Jones to record their hurt feelings before the winner was ever really acknowledged.

Does not suprize me at all, Birdstone is a good horse. Birdstone has run and won at Belmont before.

BTW, what do stud services go for on a horse that doesn't win the triple crown as opposed to one that does? Nat

Sounded like birdstone had been having problems this season, supposedly this was smarty's first appearance. I don't know about stud fee, but they said there was about a $50m diff in sale price if he had won.

Didn't Birdstone come off at like 34:1 or something like that

Don't be fooled!

Smarty Jones is a GOOD horse and has as much speed and heart as the thoroughbred business has seen in a while!

I don't think there has been a tripple crown winnder since Secretariat has there??

Had a horse once wanted to run so bad I had to often run him into the side of the barn to stop him or pull his head around with one rein to slow him up.
Funny thing, when Birdstone went past Smarty Jones, Smarty's head was pulled around sideways! Wounder why?

I thought Affirmed won the Triple Crown last in 1979?

You're right, it was Affirmed ridden by that young kid Stevie Cauthen wasn't it? Then Seattle Slew, then Secretariat.
