Trip question

It is looking like I may have to take a quick trip from Paradise up to Indiana to pick up a trailer. Can any of you give me an idea of what to calculate per gallon for diesel if I go within the next month? I know the price varies from state to state but am trying to find an average so that I can calculate the costs. Figure from here it is close to a 4000 mile round trip so diesel costs are important.
Have not bought diesel in the states for ages so have no idea of the cost these days.

That is a long haul for a trailer?? Don't know your route, If you come thru Oklahoma City, I am out east and have a spare bedroom to save you a nights lodging if you need. Looks like I am about half way and if you can get them to meet you half way or need to store it let me know. Diesel around here has stayed steady at $2.30 gal. Goodluck,,Rick

Rick, thank you for the kind offer. Unfortunately you are a little too east for this trip. I have to go via Dallas on the way up and from there will probably go thru Texarkana, Little Rock, Memphis, Cairo and Indianapolis.
Will know for sure about the trip within a week.

Whoa, I wish diesel was about $2.30 here. It has ranged from no less than $2.56 to no more than $2.89 here in the last few months.

I live out east of Okc and on I40 there is a Loves and Phillips that compete, I filled up last week at $2.30. Local it has been steady at 2.36 or so.

Stan it sure would be nice to have a 100gal tank in back of your truck for the trip as you could fill in Texas and make it back to Texas to fill again as the fuel is higher the further you go up. Goodluck and be safe... Rick

Where in Indiana did you find a trailer worth that trip? What kind of trailer?

I wiil stop being nosey and answer your question. Look up FlyingJ.com and click on gasoline prices then look at the auto diesel. Should tell you what prices you will see as you make your way. Use the auto diesel as some states (like Indiana) have a bit different tax structure.

From Dallas, take the 75 NNE thru Tulsa and on into Joplin. Avoid ARKANSAS. the roads are crap running north south, they are curvy, 55 mph. I have been nailed more times on 71 from Texarkana to Ft. Smith than all other places combined.
Fuel is running probably $2.60 in S.E. OK, not sure about other places. but it jumped $.20 today.

It's not my trailer. My business partner is trying to buy an old 31 foot Avion in Peru, In., and he figures that for the price he can buy it for, the trip is worth it. It's his nickle. We have to go to Dallas and McAllen anyway, so we are part of the way there.
Thanks guys for all the unfo.

Stan if you are near college station or richmond when you come through, I've got a spare bed room in both places if you need a place to stay. Just let me know when your coming through. I know I'm paying anywhere from $2.39-2.59 for diesel.
