Train horn proved to be disappointing.

I am very disappointed in my train horns from Trainhorn.org. The horn seems to be not quite loud enough and the tank/compressor kit is junk. The tank is too small. You only have about 3 second’s maximum of air volume for the horn to blow. The compressor gets hot while refilling. Oh yah I forgot to mention that the air tank came with the 1/8” NPT thread tapped bad. It was cross threaded and I didn't have a 1/8” NPT tap to rethread it. One of the mounting brackets was also bent about 30 degrees right out of the box. Good grief they ought to embarrassed for even marketing this Kit. I spent almost $300 dollars and the only think I really got that was worth anything was the horn itself. I will be buying a five gallon tank and a good 12 volt high volume compressor. A word from the wise is to steer clear of the set up from Trainhorn.org.

because what your buying are not train horns.
These are train horns, So are these, and these.

These are not, and there is NO comparison between them.

Little-bit:

I would suggest giving "TrainHorn.Org." a phone call and talk to them about your concerns and give them a chance to make things right or possibly refund your money.

Well I called them and they are going to send me a new heavy duty pump and a new PSI switch. The PSI switch never opened up and let the pump run until it failed.

So you would have been better suited to call them with your problem in the first place instead of bashing them here first

Nope! I emailed them and gave them almost a week to reply. I never heard anything back from them. I emailed them again this morning again. I gave them a fair chance. It only took them a few hours to bill my credit card but it took them 6 days to email me back when I had a problem???

so it never occurred to you that a company who only has 2 products might be hokey?

i say ditch that garbage, fork over cash for a good set, and chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Or find a better compressor/tank.

A buddy of mine bought one of those ebay sets, tapped into his existing air system (95 S10 with airbags all around) and I'll be danged those things are LOUD. I almost scored a free set of air horns at work but at the last minute my boss decided to keep them.

Check out suicidedoors.com, they have a fairly nice kit IMO. Their kit is probably what I'll end up going with when it comes time to put an exclamation mark in my horn's loudness.

these are the ONLY REAL train horns, anything else is just a AIR horn.

I have a better than 2 foot long Grover horn off of a Pete that I finally got the part for that puts in the air. At 80ish psi it sounds GREAT.

Now all I need is a setup to run it under my truck... and broke is all I can see.
