We're not well here at all. State wide, the death toll is 13 with 8 occurring at Enterprise high school. Thanks for thinking of us. South Alabama really needs all the prayers they can get.

I'm worried you guys that are in areas that dont get a lot of these may not know some of or all of the safety precautions to take...
Select a "safe area", basement, storm shelter or at a mininum an interior room or closet with no windows, try and put as many walls between you and the outside as possible. If caught outside, lay flat in a ditch or low-laying area. UNDERPASSES ARE DEBRIS( read death) TRAPS..not a good idea unless nothing else is around. LARGE culverts are nice hidey-holes....
NEVER try to out-drive a tornado....
Prior to teh sirens going off, put at least one gallon of water per adult and enough non-perishable food for 12-24 hours in your safe room. You may be stuck in there...
have clothes and shoes immediatly available( kids should sleep in theirs). Keep a good strong pair of work gloves in the safe area( you may need to move debris to get out) thick blankets are nice for covering yourself and others from flying glass and for keeping the kids calm...(snuggle)
at least THREE working flashlights, one in the safe room, and the others where you can put your hands on them immediatly.."somewhere under the counter" isnt gonna work..know where your gas and electrical cut-offs are, have a wrench available for the gas one...
Dont worry about your pets, they have much better survival instincts than you...

Thanks for your support last night. The last report I've seen has the total death toll at 20, 13 of them in Alabama. What makes this even more difficult is the Mayor of Enterprise, Alabama is reporting that the 8 fatalities in his city were all students at the high school. Please keep these people lifted up, they need your prayers.

Last night in the darkness my hometown area was hit hard also. Town of Americus was hit head on with the same twister cell that went through Enterprise, it would not surprise me for that Tornado to get a 4 on the scale. The bad thing is, the tornado went right through the hospital there.
They could not really tell the damage till this morning when daylight hit. I will get an update from family sometime today. Still can not get ahold of my dad, but I talked to my brother and he said it did not get rough out near dad, so that was good news.
