Gotta bring an old thread back to life. Got a good recipe for some pickles.

Vodka Pickles

20 or more small pickling cucumbers (sliced in 1/2 or 1/4 inch slices, sliced into spears, or whole)
Bunch of Dill (fresh)
6 cups of water
1/3 cup of canning salt (I use kosher salt)
3/4 cup of vodka
1 1/2 cups of white vineger
6 cloves of garlic (crushed)

Combine water, salt, vineger, garlic, and vodka and bring to a rolling boil. Once it is boiling, turn off the heat and let the brine cool to a warm temp (not too hot).

Put the pickles and dill into canning jars and pour the brine into the jars. Add the garlic from the brine to each of the jars. Put in the fridge for three days so they can pickle, and then enjoy.

Turkey Burgers

Made these tonight, I wanted a burger but wanted something different.

Use about a 1 Lb of ground turkey
1 egg (beaten)
3/4 cup of bread crumbs or crushed crackers

Garlic powder
Onion powder
Black pepper ( about a tsp each)

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix. Form the meat into patties. I did two half pound patties but you can make them smaller to make more. Season with your favorite seaoning ( I Use Charlie Vergos Rendezvous)

Have a a grill set up for indirect cooking with some not stick spray on the grates. Sear each side for a few min over the coals and then move the burger to the side and let them slow cook. cook till the juices run clear, on my charcoal it took about 20-25 min after searing them to be cooked fully.

You can make these with out seasoning and they still taste great! Doesn't taste like turkey at all.

Brown 1 lb of ground beef or ground turkey.
chop one med onion and a few cloves of garlic(add garlic to taste) and add to browned meat and cook till the onions soften.
season meat and onion mix with salt and pepper.
add two cans of stewed toms or two cans of diced toms.
season with basil, oregeno, parsley, and some hot sauce.
let simmer for 30 min.
serve over noodles or rice.

this is a favorite dish my mother use to make for us when my brother, sis, and i were kids. I still make i now for the wife and I once in a while.

Tail Gate Grilling (we all know the best kind of grillin)
Take a few sirloins (i perfer to let mine soak in a marinade for a few hours made up of Worcestershire sauce, onions, peppers, a bit of sugar and a lot of pepper), Onions, green peppers, red peppers, and one pinapple. Cut all into equal size chunks, place on kabob stick and grill away. Heat grill to around 300-325 and place foil down. While grill is coming up to temp start shucking a few ears of corn and wrap them too in foil. Once grill is hot enought place all on the foil and cook, Remember that Kabobs need turned ALOT in oreder to not burn them. While cooking take a Beer of your chioice and pour on kabobs and let it simmer into the meat. Then it's time to chow down...and for Gods sake, drink the rest of the beer in the cooler!
