tire size questions .... HELP
how much bigger is a 295/75/16 compared to a 285/75/16 ?? enough of a difference to notice ?? its $11.00 more to go with 295's. also will 315's fit on a stock 97 ?? the 315's are $17.00 more than the 285's. i do not want to spend the $ on 315's if they are going to rub. the tires im looking at are BFG a/t priced on tirerack. thanks guys, scott

Re:tire size questions .... HELP
295/75/16 should be around 11.5x33.5 285/75R16 should be around 11.2x33. 315's are 12.5 inches wide. I think the stock rims on 97's are 6.5. I think the narrowest you can run a 315 on is a 8.5 or 9. The center of the tire will wear faster than the outsides, even with max psi.

Re:tire size questions .... HELP
Yeah that should make a difference. I have '02 factory alloys, and they are 8 inches. I've been running a set of 305/70R16's for 20,000 miles, and they are wearing fine. 305's are 12 inches wide.

Seems to me I've heard somewhere that the newer wheels won't fit the older trucks. I could be wrong but you might want to check it out.
