Time to Fire Dan Rather!!

Disclaimer: I am in no way sticking up for Dan Rather,
yes, I do work for CBS, but their crap no way reflects my opinions.
We have to remember, Dan Rather is just the talking head that gives us the news.
He didn't find the document,
he didn't verify the document,
he didn't suggest that CBS run with the document unverified,
he just reads what is on the teleprompter.
You could hack into the prompter, type in "Dan Rather is a Weenie" and you would hear those words come out of his mouth.
(Yes, this has been verified at the station I work at, the person that did the typing was fired, but it still made for some funny news watching)
I am a firm believer that Dan Rather died many years ago, and he is now an animatronic puppet.
If you notice, when he is standing doing the reporting, he doesn't move from the shoulders down.
His hands stay in the exact same position the whole time he is on camera.
If you squint just right, you can see the joints where the head is screwed on, and the wires protruding from just under his hairline.
Just my observations.

I personally have just one question for Mr. Rather:
Exactly what is the frequency, Kenneth?

phox,
As Managing Editor of CBS News, Dan Rather's participation and responsibility goes far beyond that of a "talking head".

I was just making the point that he isn't solely responsible.

How many heads will that comment fly right over.
Half the board is old enough to remember,
other half is old enough to have forgotten,
the other half is thinking "What does R.E.M. have to do with it"?

NOW he is sorry, after today Rather should resign. Just like Clinton should have after the Monica thing, but NOOOOOO! Rather has no integrity in news reporting anymore just like Clinton was a lame duck after his impeacement. If he would have resigned maybe, just maybe we would have focused on OSMAMA before 9/11 instead of Clinton's crotch. What news stories have been missed because Rather's blind amibition to the Demos?
Dan Rather & Billy Clinton are a disgrace to their chosen profession. They are both Democrats first, Americans second. AND that is backwards for you liberals out there.

If the white house had said that they didn't belive that the documents were real then Rather would have gone on tv and said the white house has dodged the issue. Why isn't Rather asking Hanoi John why he will not open up his military records like the President has . all he has to do is sign form 180 and we will know all about all his little cuts and bruises he got.

The story seems to have an unhappy ending though. Apparently the guy who did that was not just loony, but criminally loony, and is now in jail for killing someone. (Link provided for anyone who doesn't know what Commatoze is talking about) http://www.ratherbiased.com/bizarre.htm#kenneth

Just a mention about the Air National Guard.
At that time, Lt. Bush was flying the F-102 which is an interceptor that worked hand in hand with the regular USAF to protect this country from the threat of the Soviet bombers (ADC-Air Defense Command). For those of you not familiar with this aircraft, it is a very difficult and "slippery" plane to fly. Some pilots have told me that as soon as they pushed the throttle forward they felt immediate danger. The reason I mention this is because some people (not necessarily on this board) have suggested it was (joining the guard) in the same category as "running to Canada".
By the way, it just came out yesterday that Bush did volunteer for duty in Vietnam to fly top cover for B-52's. Was not accepted because of lack of combat experience.

Time to Fire Dan Rather
While in college I got a taste of the "lefty" news media because in order to get my ag. communications degree I had to take classes at the journalism school. YIKES! Some of those folks are different. Most are in support of a socialist government. Those same people don't have any idea, nor do they care to know, what goes on in the real world. They are idealists and nothing more. They also think they are above everyone else and irreproachable. This attitude runs over into the poor quality of work they do. When journalists write their stories, they are supposed to do what is called "fact checking." Unfortunately, many are too arrogant to admit that they don't know all of the facts and do a poor job when checking them. And they tend to be lax about checking the facts because they assume that just because they don't know something, then there's no way that anyone else could. Couple that with the fact that most journalists are journalists because of one reason: they have an agenda and they want it published.
I am not saying that Mr. Rather had an agenda (although if I recall correctly, I believe he is the reporter who had a one-on-one interview with the 1st president Bush during one of his campaigns, and in the middle of the interview he ticked Bush off and he left the interview. Please correct me if I'm wrong!). My point is though, that being a senior anchor, it was most likely his place to oversee the work of whoever was to check the facts for this story. He either did not care; trusted the fact checker too much; or really did have an agenda. No matter, it made him look bad. Rightfully so? I don't know because I don't know all the facts behind what happened.
