Is this the same configuration that use to say "Big 10" on the side of the beds in the late 70's and then changed to "Heavy Half" in the early 80's?

I have a sales booklette for GM trucks for 1978 and it claims that the "Big 10" has all the same stuff as the 3/4 ton truck except for the brakes.
The booklette implies that the "Big 10" still has 1/2 ton sized brakes.
(Of course, this is info that is now almost 25 years old) :-
It also has a flier in the booklette that introduces GM's "ALL NEW" 6.2L Diesel !

I'm not sure about the Big 10, but the Heavy Half and the F150 were essentially the same old half-tons with slightly higher GVWR's to get around certain emissions rules.

Wonder if the larger body, detracts from the payload enough to keep it from being classified with the 3/4 ton?

Re:Is there such a thing?

Also, the 1500HD's don't have the funky looking hood, or extremely high stance, or low dropping frames.(enough "or's"?)

In 2000 Chevy made the 2500's, and the looked exactly like a 1500, except they were 8-lugged wheels, better brakes, and higher payload (real 2500's) (I had one), but, when the next year rolled around they introduced the 2500HD, and 3500HD's, the ALlison, the 8.1L Big Block, and the Duramax,, quite a big year for Chevy.

Well, the 2500 That I had was traded in for a 3500HD with the Duramax/Allison.

I have noticed that the 2500 I had, has now just been Rebadged, as a 1500HD. Same motor, same trany, same suspension, brakes, everything, just rebadged, retaining the 1500 front end(hood, lights, bumper, etc), and frame style (not hanging low)

Just my $.02

His is a crew cab correct? My cousins badge doesn't say HD after the 1500.
