Last year outside of Blyth I found a good spot for digging geodes. I was trying to mark the spot on a map so we could find it again. One of the people we were with just took a picture with his smart phone than amazed me later by showing the coordinates after downloading it it our laptop. Wild stuff.

Guess its just us dummies Bark. I had no idea!!! What an easy way for a terrorist to communicate bomb locations, get away cars, hide outs, targets, etc. All with pictures of non threatening stuff. GPS accuracy to within 15'.

It's not just smart phones, more and more of the new digital cameras are GPS enabled.

As with most of the options many are ON by default and have to turned OFF.

Stan,my DMC-ZS7 has a raised rectangular bump on the top labeled "GPS".How the others work I do not know.To me that is just one less device for me to worry about as it consumes power even with the camera turned off.
