I got a ticket for 45 in a 30 zone a week ago and it's $50 bucks. Wife wasn't too happy... Plus the trooper nailed me for "Too fast for conditions" (it was snowing). Oh, and this is in Montana, Dr Evil... Lincoln, MT to be exact.-Steve

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

My last almost ticket was 63 in a 35.. long straight road, 4 lanes and no traffic. Didnt even realize I was speedin, just driving along. Anyway, pulls me over beside a UDF, in process of handing him my registration he gets a call that the UDF is being robbed, he looks at me, shakes his head and says man is this your lucky day and off he goes . That is one of FEW examples of good luck for me, I'm the one who gets picked out of the crowd of speeders.

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

the highway(interstate roads) speed limit around here is 55 most of the highway patrol wont even move for anything under 80. now if ur caught racing, mammas boy or not, you get what u deserve especially if its a residentail or semi residential area.

getting nailed on thanksgiving is rough. i think you should have gotten a warning and have a nice holiday...

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

Well, I guess I need to follow Hoss' advice and not speed. Maybe I need to spend a month in Texas to learn to slow down a bit. I would agree that Ohio has more than it's share of troopers, but again I was at fault. Truck sounds too good when running in the sweet spot!

Here's a thought.....if you don't like getting tickets, don't speed. ;

Now I typically drive about 5 over when I'm on the highway....mostly to avoid being rear ended by those driving 15 over. Just set my cruise, sit back and relax.

I'm just not sure about Texas. ;D

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

The last ticket I got was 79 in a 55 which is wreckless driving in Virginia. The fine was cheap compared to the insurance which went to $3600 per year and five points on the liscense. I sat down and had a long talk with myself. That was about ten years ago or more and I haven't had one since. (now knocking on head or closest wood surface)
Slow down and be safe.

Yup...I drive at or 2mph under the limit....in the right lane. No braking, no pedal, no lane changing....just relaxed, chattin' with the wife. So on a 4 hour drive, you're gonna get there, what, 20 minutes of me? : Ain't worth it.

Technically, you're right. However, unless it's a school zone the cops down here will generally leave you alone for going 5 over. I've never gotten a ticket for going 5 over. It's the 10 and up crowd that they go after.

I should say that 75 mph is about the fastest I'll go (speed limit 70 mph). I see idiots flying around me at 80+ mph all the time. To me it's just not worth it to go that fast. What's it gonna do.....get you there 2 minutes faster?? :

Hey man....I'm with you. But, when you get out on a long highway in Texas you can still get run over for only going 5 over. I will say this....especially on highways....I do NOT drive UNDER the speed limit (unless road conditions make it unsafe to go the speed limit). Typically I'm either right at it or a little bit over it...depending on what kind of mood I'm in.

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

My last speeding ticket was waaaaayyyy back somewhere around 1982. In Italy I did get a ticket for driving through a red traffic light on purpose and a couple parking tickets. You pay them on the spot and they don't go onto your record.

I usually sit on the freeway at 71 with the engine running at 2000 rpm. Nice and relaxed.

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

1 ticket (speeding) in the last ten years, and that was because I didn't flash the brass pass....

Even works out of state......got a nice warning for going 15 over in Idaho Falls......

Re:Thanksgiving ticket

To avoid speeding tickets, I put my CTD in "stealth" mode. Once they wise up to that I use the transporter (as in "beam me up Scotty&quot.

Seriously, I have only had one speeding ticket in 44 years of driving and I got that this year (80 in a 60) Cost me about $100 including the Defensive Driving Course. Good thing is that it does not go on insurance records or driving record but I have to be good (no speeding tickets) for a year. That's going to be hard.
