“So they came. Outsiders from Tennessee, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, England, Scotland, Germany, Ireland, and elsewhere, all dedicated to the cause of Texas and the desire to be Texans. The hopes, aspirations, and predictions about Texas by the newcomers proved to be true, but not necessarily for themselves. Like Moses upon Mount Nebo they were permitted to view the new land but not partake in its bounty. Instead men like Autry, Bonham, Cloud, Crockett, Cummings, and Goodrich were inducted into a very elite fraternity. They, along with approximately two hundred fifty others, became the men of the Alamo. On the morning of March 6, 1836, they gave their lives on behalf of Texas and thus irrevocably linked themselves to the land of their adopton in a way none of them could have imagined. They came to Texas as emigrants – outsiders. They gambled everything they had for a stake in Texas. And sacrificed themselves on the altar of Texas liberty – as Texans”

You joke of Whipping Texas last time. Texans did not get the news the Civil war was over. Texans fought, and won the last battle of the war in Boca Chica near Brownsville Long after the south had surrendered.
Texan by birth and choice.

There actually is a candidate running for Gov in the next election that wants to drop out of the US rat race. He is somewhat of a character, but when you sit down and listen to him...it begins to make some sense

Texas SUCCEED??????
Heck yes Texas has succeeded from the Yankee horde all of these years.....
We send ya tons of natural gas and petrol to heat your cold hiney's in the winters, (look at a map of interstate pipelines sometime).......
Taught ya'll all how to build a covered stadiums so you could enjoy winter sports (we did it to keep the pesky mosquitos off of us year round).....
Now Seceeding would be a whole nuther matter..... but at least our early Texas forefathers had the foresight to give us an out should matters get out of hand in yankee land......
P.S. We still like all of you yanks.....some come on down, visit and spen your money!!!
