Morning all - - - great "thought for the day" Scott. Funny. But so real. And they breed................
Nuther funeral today. One of my SS class members fell on Tuesday, hurting so off to the hospital. They diagnosed it as a bruised liver. Thursday his son was there with him, got up from his chair collapsed on the floor, looked up at his son and just quit breathing. Nothing brought him around. So, I am doing the eulogy along with a few stories about him. Life is short - - eternity is long.
OK, gotta run and get things ready. Grabbing a ph00 and out of here. .....................

Sorry about your SS student/friend Bobby.
I think Bark might be on something. I mean onto something about this place. What was that movie a few years back where those guys went to an island thinking they were not the patients/inmates? It was for the insane.

Hey buddy, thanks for the condolences. He will be missed. Good guy. Makes you reconsider your life, your priorities, your relationships and how quickly and suddenly they can end. What did we leave behind? Those memories are what I am trying to retrieve. Making me think about someone doing this for me someday - - what will I have left? Very thought provoking.
OK - - refill..............................(yeh, I know, only thing people will remember about me is I like ph00).............

Bob, my deepest condolences on your loss....losing a friend is never easy especially when it comes so sudden and simple as a fall like that.
We are truly fragile beings and our time here is limited so enjoy it to the fullest.

I wonder what would happen if I wore my "I drove the Alaska Marine Highway" hat to Walmart?
Bark, What's the name of that place. I'll have to check it out next time I'm out there.
Battening down the hatches. 40mph sustained and 60-80mph gust the next couple of days.
Can anyone guess why my wife won't let me cook?

Wanttobeme nice view out the window. You should see the looks I get when I wear my mentally disturbed veteran hat while carrying one of my .45 any where I go. Explicable if I ask for a box of ammo and where do you keep the ski mask.

Russ and Fred, two friends, met in the park every day to feed the pigeons, watch the squirrels and discuss world problems.
One day Russ didn't show up. Fred didn't think much about it and figured maybe he had a cold or something..
But after Russ hadn't shown up for a week or so, Fred really got worried. However, since the only time they ever got together was at the park, Fred didn't know where Russ lived, so he was unable to find out what had happened to him.
A month had passed, and Fred figured he had seen the last of Russ, but one day, Fred approached the park and-- lo and behold!--there sat Russ! Fred was very excited and happy to see him and told him so.
Then he said, 'For crying out loud Russ, what in the world happened to you?'
Russ replied, 'I have been in jail.'
'Jail!' cried Fred. What in the world for?'
'Well,' Russ said, 'you know Sue, that cute little blonde waitress at the coffee shop where I sometimes go?'
'Yeah,' said Fred, 'I remember her. What about her?
'Well, the little gold-digging witch figured I was rich and she filed rape charges against me; and, at 89 years old,
I was so proud that when I got into court, I pleaded 'guilty'.
'The judge gave me 30 days for perjury.'

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Hey, Hi, Hola, Hello - you get the point. Been MIA lately as I have been been to busy to drop in and chat with you bunch of (censored) and exchange the usual drivel. This being retired takes a lot of time. Just went back and did a quick read of a few pages to see if there was anything "important" that I may have missed.
I read that Barks wife may be trying to kill him. Now why would she do that? On second thoughts, why did she wait so long?
chaikwas is getting old and falling apart. Has Jake been taught to be a seeing eye dog yet? Sounds like you may need one soon.
Glad I missed the aged American coffee.
Shorts, what a bummer about Chester. Stuff like that cuts to the heart.
Too many of you are buried under snow and ice. What day in November does summer start?
Heidi, getting rid of old junk. Be careful and do not throw out YS with the junk. Something like throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Wonder how many of you youngsters know how that expression came about.
T-rad, missed yuh. Bet you never missed the misfits here on DTR.
Scotty, hope you can enjoy your new job and make lots of lolly.
Next month I will be attending the first and probably last family gathering in South Africa. My three sisters, all younger than me are threatening to tell my wife (whom they have not yet met) what a horrible brother I was. I never was a holy terror. My sisters will probably tell fibs and say that I was an unholy terror. In retrospect, maybe there were one or two things I did to them that was not nice. Like loading my pellet gun with potato and shooting my oldest sister in the posterior just to see how far the slug of potato would travel and what kind of impact it had. I felt the impact after my mother heard about it. Her weapon of choice was a large wooden spoon. Too bad "tools" like that are outlawed in schools now. Spoons like that are fantastic for helping to shape character.
I also read about how some of you have lost friends, family etc recently and what you would be remembered by after you die. You may not realize it, but while you are alive you are building up a legacy. What you will leave behind or how you will be remembered when you are gone. You can also store up blessings and favor by living a life of excellence and integrity that will affect generations to come. Could say lots more, but better quit now before this develops into a sermon.
Have a great night wherever you are.

Cougar, that's funny!
Heidi, Bark, thanks.
Having a sentimental moment here. I'm sitting in a Chic-fil-a using their internet since mine at the hotel sucks. (Changing hotels tomorrow) Anyway, just reading kind and humorous comments with a sad piano playing in the background made me think about how many folks have passed through my life. So many people and I only can name a fraction, let alone know where or how they are. Will I ever see them again? All those thoughts are overshadowed by one other. I've communicated with so many of you here, on this forum, and on the phone with some of you and to not put a face with the name hurts more. There are so many great folks out there. Alright, I've had my moment, carry on.

Thanks for sharing. Gave me something to think about.
Afternoon Scott, Larry, RRone,
My Mom used a wooden spoon too but her favorite was to grab a paddle ball (we always had one for some reason).
She would remove the elastic and ball from the paddle, whack us with it and later she would staple the elastic back to the paddle.
Playa-Azul. Its in the same area the Moose club is in. For the price it is really good. The most expensive item is $15 bucks.
Funny joke by the way.
Never heard of it. Was it any good?
Sorry to hear about that.
Speaking of falling, I just found out that a friend of mine in CA fell in the shower and broke his hip, wrist and knocked him out.
He is eight years older than me.
This happened last week. He says he doesn't remember anything until he woke up from surgery.
You just don't think about something bad happening right in your own home.
They should have called the police immediately when they saw Lary and Scotty were together.
