'Bout time you did something, you're healthier than most of us here, no excuses anymore!

Today is Sunday, June 2nd.

1774 - The Quartering Act, which required American colonists to allow British soldiers into their houses, was reenacted.

1851 - Maine became the first U.S. state to enact a law prohibiting alcohol.

1886 - Grover Cleveland became the second U.S. president to get married while in office. He was the first to have a wedding in the White House.

1896 - Guglieimo Marconi's radio was patented in the U.S.

1897 - Mark Twain, at age 61, was quoted by the New York Journal as saying "the report of my death was an exaggeration." He was responding to the rumors that he had died.

1924 - All American Indians were granted U.S. citizenship by the U.S. Congress.

1954 - U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy charged that there were communists working in the CIA and atomic weapons plants.

1966 - Surveyor 1, the U.S. space probe, landed on the moon and started sending photographs back to Earth of the Moon's surface. It was the first soft landing on the Moon.

1969 - Australian aircraft carrier Melbourne sliced the destroyer USS Frank E. Evans in half off the shore of South Vietnam.

1995 - Captain Scott F. O'Grady's U.S. Air Force F-16C was shot down by Bosnian Serbs. He was rescued six days later.

2003 - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that companies could not be sued under a trademark law for using information in the public domain without giving credit to the originator. The case had originated with 20th Century Fox against suing Dastar Corp. over their use of World War II footage.

Today's thought:
People say, 'God will find a way.' God can't find a way if you're in the way.

Have a good'un!

Mornin' all.
'Nudder hot one in Washington DC, storms on the way.
Nothing like the powerful shots that that keep rolling though Oklahoma.
Just some wind, rain, and cooler temps in the forecast.

Have a safe weekend.

Gotta go switch the PTO shaft in the 4430 and bring the brushhog down to mow my yard. 4020 won't tear the yard up so much but it's a half hour drive home and back to where we'll need it again, so.....

Good morning all y'all. Yesterday was productive - yard got mowed and swept (all 4 acres), oil changed and fresh gas in the rototiller and push mower and a bunch of the garden got tilled again to kill of the wee beastie weeds that were starting to come up. DW and I have sore muscles today - it hurts but it is good hurt. In a couple hours we are off to 4H on Parade. As well as seeing all of the projects that our 4H members have completed we are also there to make our annual steer purchase. I have said it before but I will say it again, nothing tastes better that a nice bbq'd steak from a well raised steer. We are buying 4 steers this year, 1 for us and the other 3 are to be shared amongst a number of our friends. For some reason, the auctions are actually a lot more stressful for me when I am spending other peoples' money. I know it doesn't make sense, but that is the way I feel during the auction. Our money - no stress.
Have a happy Sunday and if you are in a severe weather area, keep your head down and be safe.

Wow, you need to get those spuds in the ground. We planted ours 2 weeks ago, just before the monsoons started.

Wish it would make up its mind. It's either too hot or too cold. Went from the 40's-50's into the 70's-80's and back. Lots of flooding going on due to the fast melt off.

I wish. It was SUPPOSED to be a relaxing day, but that wasn't in the grand scheme of things I guess. Hydrant inside one of the barns let go so I had to replace it. Most all of the hydrants on this place are only 2 to 3 feet down. Naturally, the one in the barn where I can't get the backhoe to so it has to be dug by hand is 5 feet down. And they back-filled with clay. On top of it all there was 3 layers of asphalt and concrete. Out in the driveways we're lucky to have 2" of asphalt, but in the barn we get 3, about 3" thick each.

Pi R squared, right? WRONG! Pi R Heidi! Thanks Sis! Real nice surprise!

Everyone maintaining a modicum of sanity today?

Howdy! Scott, sorry about the dig. Sounds like like a job for a mini excavator.

Hey all, rubbed pork ribs on the grill, a little Pecan a little Mesquite doing the smoking. I'm sitting on the deck, watching Chester look at the flies that won't leave him alone. I did have a glass on Coke & Jameson but it seems someone drank it all. Still waiting for my pool boy to come get the empty and refill it. Where is that guy already?

Beautiful day here. Sunny, bright, cool in the shade, hot in the sun, nice breeze.

I'm ready to be done. Still have the summer. Boy the downhill sure wears on.

Yall be good. Gotta go get my own refill...

Hey all y'all, home from the steer auction. Got us and 8 friends hooked up with awesome beef. We bought Charolais for ourselves, also another Charolais, Angus and Black Angus for our friends. The cheapest steer was $2.40/lb and the most expensive steer was $3.50/lb. If we had been paying better attention we would have bid up the $2.40 steer to something more like $2.80 or $2.90. The kids that raise these steer are all awesome kids and they work really hard on these steer projects.

The abbatoirs all hang this meat for 28 days so, in early July we will have a new load of most awesome beef. Two of the steer we bought were raised in the field 50 feet north of our house. Now THAT is buying local produce!!!!

Hope everyone had a safe and productive day. Chaikwa, sorry about your excavation project. I absolutely hate that kind of work!!!!

Shorts - I would gladly refill your drink for you but the drive is a little long. If you were using Canadian Club or Crown Royal instead of Jamieson's, I might have a little more motivation - good Canadian whiskies.

I thought of that, but the aisleway this is in only had about 30" of width to it and the ceiling is about 7 feet. I don't know if I could have actually dug with a mini IF I could have got it in there.

I don't really mind the work so much as I mind the circumstances. I was supposed to be putting the first coat of paint on the new sawmill that's been primed for a week. It's rained everyday since I primed it. Tomorrow's another day I guess.

Sounds like my projects - - can't put the finishing touch on them because of some little stupid problem. GRRRR Oh well, tomorrow is Monday, the start of another week. Oh mercy, I don't have many weeks and now we have a storm brewing in the Gulf. Oh Mercy. ...................HELP.
