stupid move....
Sooo... here's a warning for everyone, Don't work tired, and don't get in a rush. I was helping my brother with his 88 corvette. we replaced the thremostat threw a little coolant in there then limped it the few miles to his house. i knew it wasn't full was in a rush get going and the short version is i reached down and popped the radiator cap . Please no comments about how stupid... I KNOW. i honestly don't know what the heck i was thinking. don't get ina rush, stupid things happen. Well the cap popped off and a rush of 220-230* water shot out hit the hood and scolded my right shoulder/arm/back. i tore my shirt off and got into his appartment right into a cold shower, but the damage was done. It actually looks worse in person than in the picture there's lots of drainage and my wife is all freaked out. And no, i'm not flexing in the pic (Gzhel) i turned my arm like that so all the burn could be seen.
i praise the Lord that he spared my face through my stupidity and that my brother wasn't standing over my shoulder like usual.

youch!!!! Looks similar to the time i thought i would get a "tan" by wearing a cut of tshirt on the tractor while bush hogging all day. 5 hours later with no sunscreen = blisters all over my shoulders. Good luck with it tho. Certainly could have been a lot worse.

Ouch, hopefully it doesn't feel as bad as my burn 2 years back.
I had an incident with a pressure washer once that burned me good. I was running it, making my concrete look good again. I switched it off to go get something in the house. For some reason I leaned over the washer to either pick something up or put something down, I can't remember. The pressure washer in particular, was a 4000 PSI honda unit. On top of most honda small engines, is the fuel tank, intake, exhaust, and cylinder head (shielded). I put my hand down on it to steady myself as I leaned over it. I though I set it on the intake.
What I did though, was set my hand on the exhaust. In an instant I realized just how hot an small engine exhaust can be . That hurt worse than any pain I ever felt in my life. I ended up going to the ER. I had severe 2nd degree burns on ¾ of my left hand. Even with pain killers, I had to keep ice on my hand to keep the pain tolerable for the rest of the day/night. I am much more careful around hot things now. I got lucky, and still have full use of my left hand, and have no disfiguration.
Y'all be careful.

A couple pats on the shoulder the next couple days, and it'll sink in nice so there won't be a next time. Glad it missed the vitals, good luck.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT CLEAN Have your wife rinse it with peroxide...(you can get BIG bottles @ wally world)...just let it rinse for 10 - 20 seconds then jump in the shower
contrary to popular belief peroxide will eat GOOD flesh as well as DEAD flesh
BUT you don't want any infection

my buddy got his hand burned from hot antifreeze.
the worst burn i ever got was when i was 6. had been at my grandmas visiting with cousins, we were all swimming in the pond at their house. i had gotten out for something, and ran to ask if i could go back in. well i wasnt watching were i was going and stuck my left foot in the fire pit that was full of HOT coals. 3rd degree burn on my left foot. doctor at the ER said i would probly need plastic surgery to reconstruct my foot, but the foot ended up healing on its own (how it did i still dont know), no plastic surgery needed. to make it worse, when i stepped in the fire i tripped, if i hadnt stopped myself i probly would have gone completely in to the fire.

Man, what a way to get a lesson! We all have accidents. That's why their called accidents.
I had an injury to my foot a few years back. My med. dr. sent me to his friend who is a plastic surgeon to see what needed to be done, if anything to save my little toe. The Dr. gave me a prescription for "silver sulfadiazine cream 1%". I took a portion of that cream and mixed it with an equal portion of mupirocin ointment (or competitive brand).
Apply to your burnt areas. You won't believe the healing!!
The plastic surgeon was going to ampuate my toe, but after the test were run to make sure I didn't have a bone infection and the wound healed as fast as it did.......well, it's still a part of me!
You probably will have to go to the Dr. for a prescription, but it's worth it, believe me.

YIKES man that looks like it's a tad bit painful! My soon to be brother-in-law had a get together at his place about a month ago.......and one of his geneous DRUNK friends decided he could jump the fire pit. Needless to say he didn't make it and now has 3rd degree burns on both hands and all the way up to his elbows. Has to stay in the hospital for about a month
But in your case man, that was an honest mistake.......everyone does stupid things when you hurry! I'm the KING of it! Glad it missed your face though.

Stuff happens and lessons learned. The area around my right eye and the right side of my nose got burned with an oxy-acetalene torch. The top few layers of skin just fell right off. Thank God it didn't get my eye, it didn't even scar. I was pretty lucky.

i know about burns and they suck!!! About 3 months ago we were working on our pens. I was using a torch and was cutting up a gate to use the scrap rod. I went to push the 1'' rod onto the trailer and when I did I knocked off the piece I had just caught. It fell on my index 2 outer fingers, with a piece of channel on top of it. My other hand had the torch still going, so by the time I put it down my fingers had been burning for 3 or 4 seconds, fealt like a minute. Later that day, running the torch again, caught the fringe on the bottom of my jeans on fire, burning half the leg of them up, but luckily not my flesh. Just my luck....

I had a 2nd * burn on my fingers about 2 years ago. I was bringing in a stock pot my mom was canning in with another guy from the barn. What happened I dont know but the after affects I still have. I tripped or slipped and my end of the pot came down. It had just been boiling about 3 mins before. The lid opened and the water went down my right fingers. No pain at first. So we quickly take the pot in and I put my hand in cold water. The company left about 5mins later, then I balled! Only some people here have felt that pain! Hot, boiling water is THE most painful thing on earth, bar none, says my dad (paramedic/firefighter by trade). I fell asleep on the couch wimpering. I had my hand right on the middle of my chest, kinda of like I was saying the pledge of allegiance. I had a 2 gallon plastic ziplock bag on top of that filled with ice. The next morning (after waking up twice to fill the bag again) my fingers across the first to segments, were TRIPLE the size from the blisters. I didn't go to work for the next 2 days (it happened on a thursday). It sucked having to spend my weekend in pain. After about 2 weeks the blisters either popped or slowly leaked away leaving my fingers looking like a 90 year olds hand. Then the pain set in again, but not as bad. If anything touched those fingers, I yelled. Now my fingers have a red mark where it was probably the hottest.
The reason why hot liquid is the worst is because it results in 2nd degree burns almost right away. The nerves are scorched but still operational. If it had been fire, 3rd degrees burns are the least painful as the nerves are burned to nothing.
I will not move a stock pot with near boiling liquid anymore more than a couple of feet. It has to cool or get someone else to get it.
I hope you all learn from my mistake.
Jon

Micaiahfied that looks painful! I hope it heals quickly.
I did that to my forearm while reaching over the top of mine to turn it off
My friend fried the top of his hand on a power washer. He was just finishing up an entire building and turned his body right into the side with the muffler.
Maybe they should put guards on those things for us dummies.
