I think the weight alone would make the hole for us, then the we can use it in the basement. That would be hilarious to attempt it though.

Just tie it to the stick, lower it into the roof at a high point, then retract the ladder. No need to even put personnel up there!

That's only with a 372 with a 32" bar.

Either way, if you want a saw that's gonna work with abuse, you need to spend the extra buck on a pro series. They use a differenyt rod and crank and dispurse heat better. Also need to be able to adjust the bar oiler for big jobs.

The big Stihl saws are great for milling - 090, 090G, 088, 084, etc are all more than enough for the job.

I have seen a rig where two 090s are mounted to one bar and are driving the chain.

Here are both doing their job:

Great thread you guys have started here. I'm picking up a new 290 Farm Boss tonight. It should do everything I need it to. I have had a few other Stihl saws at companies I have worked for. They have never let me down. I'm tired of using my friends collection of saws so its time for my own.

I got my 290 last yr and what a saw. I probably haven't run but 1 tank of fuel thru it so far, but it cuts like a dream compared to the little Poulan I inherited from my dad. A tad on the heavy side, but I love it so far.

Used to go to saw competitions when I lived in Idaho, seen everything from V8's to 96" Harley powered saws. My grandpa had something called a Mahl or something like that, it was huge I could barely lift it at 10 yrs old

I have a MS260 with a 16" bar as the camping/hunting saw, its a great unit.... Dad has a MS260 and a MS361, the 361 has some *****... big enough for anything I can imagine cutting... I will get a 361 someday and have the small and big saw compliment...

Well I got my MS290 last week. Used it all weekend, along with the cummins. Ran the heck outa the saw and it performed great. he cummins stuck with a big trailer load of wood. Finnaly got the truck out but now i'm replacing a u-joint because of my driving manners, lol.

I'm very happy with the new saw though.
