soapbox racing!
i just went for a ride in a soapbox racer. first time out and i went 54 mph by gps. man what a kick in the pants. go to youtube and type in "sfvisbf". i might have to build one of these.

Thats a heck of a lot faster than the last and only soapbox race I ever went to. They closed the street down in front of my college apartment in Cookeville Tn for a sanctioned soapbox race. Man they were pokin! I sorta knew the distance to the top of the hill and timed them. I think they came across the line at a blistering 8~10 mph. At the lower part I could out run them.
I was sorta disappointed because I imagined the soapbox races from movies like The Little Rascals.
Its good to know that they do get that fast though!!

Looks like that would be a kick in the pants !!! I'd love to do something like that. They had quite a track ... funny seeing an old grey-beard racing a soap box !!

I agree they are fun to run, I did that as a kid. We still have ours, 100% home made, even the wheels. I am not sure how fast we went but I do know that the first time I rolled one it hurt, but was a blast. You know you are going fast when you pass the car driving in the other lane
