Smile Snowy Day in Raleigh

Since this doesn't happen too often around here, I thought I'd take a couple of pictures this morning on my way to work.

And of course, you can't have a snowy day without taking a picture of the camper too!

I don't think so! It's about 30 here right now, but it's supposed to be down to 5f tomorrow night.

Exclamation Hey Jack,,,,,,,,,,

How about getting a carport to put that truck under!
You should be ashamed of yourself leaving her out in the snow!

Come on Jack, 1 1/2 inches of snow and you get all excited. My snow's deeper than yours.

hehehe. Being from Colorado, it didn't used to be a big deal. Now that I've been here for four years, we've only had like three snow events so it's kind of fun

Wow! That must be nice. We often have snow ground cover from November into April. About 200 inches for a season. I'm looking forward to a warmer climate in few years.

You do have as much as us Minnesota folks but much warmer though.

So it is scarry to drive in your area with all the people who can't drive in the snow?

I love all the crash up derby contests they show in the southern and eastern states when it snows 1 inch. They don't close schools here for anything less then 8 inches.

Enjoy and make a Snow Man!

The snow looks nice. Can not tell anything about the truck since it's buried in white stuff. We had that white stuff here in '89 (I think)................

Snow???????? There's still grass poking through! That doesn't look like it would crest my sandles. Got your extension cord ready?

Knew this would come up. Most all of the people in SUVs you see on the Weather Channel and CNN upside down or in the guardrails in the South when it snows are usually TRANSPLANTS. Those of us born and raised in these parts know that snow melts into water, water freezes into ice, and nothing can drive on ice except a Zamboni.

You see, around here we have the good sense to stay at home and wait it out because tomorrow it will be 45 to 60 degrees and the snow will disappear - happens just about every time. Plus, our "quality of life" doesn't demand that we have to get out in the slush to go get an expresso or latte just because we feel that we must.

If this area had the NEED for major snow removal equipment then we would be able to send the kiddies to school in this junk. However, my tax bill shows that we ain't spending money on stuff like snow removal equipment and chains for the school buses. Like Jack said, 4 years - 3 snowfalls to amount to anything. Of course, 2 of those snow events were the 2 foot of white stuff - which shuts even the most prepared cities down (Washington and Philly this year, Chicago in 99 (I was there)).

Nope, us good ol' dumb country redneck Southern boys will just sit back and listen to the sirens going to pull all them yankmes out of the ditch. Kinda nice sittin in the hot tub with the wife watching the snow fall. If I need to go anywhere I'll fire up the tractor and drive down to the store - just don't expect to find any milk, bread, diapers, beer, or cigarettes

Don't think all of us Southerners are unprepared - for many years I used to shuttle doctors and nurses around when the snow got really bad. Both trucks I used for that are still quite capable of handling uncleared back roads with 2 foot of snow - drifts not withstanding - but we rarely get the drifts that reallly pile up and stop even the plows.

Only the careless end up on the news - although the 4WD guys that were hauling medical personnel did get a spot once many years ago - I was out on the road when the news crew showed up at the hospital.

Think I will go watch the snow melt.....in case some of you had forgotten, it doesn't have to be May before that happens
